Upon doing some evaluations on those views of yours and your pals, the following reasons are what makes it feel like too many DA items are in Book 1: - The level threshold of the Book itself - the level caps during Book 1 were smaller compared to now, and with the rate of level up on the current game state, will not be surprising why you're reaching those caps, therefore causing one to see plenty DA items (yes, it has been tradition that most level cap items are DA locked).
- Vastness of content - Book 1 is the sole rival of Book 3 in terms of content, so it does have a boatload of stuff that can be overload to those who don't know where to look, especially if your view of Book 1's world has been tunnel visioned by Timeline. Want some NDA items but are too... linear... towards progression? Go to your nearest non-Soulweaver class trainer. If gold's tight, you can Voltabolt, Potion Mastery, or Nautiloid Hunt. And tbh, those items are of the modern stat templates, so focus on those if you want to minimize the shock of having to update your gear to Book 3 standards. In my view, those "too p2w" arguments are just for the lazy to ask questions or research... or feel entitled to Inn rewards when endgame talk is involved.
As for how the devs will do Book 1 once 3 is done, that ain't for me to say. However, I will warn against suggesting in any form to un-DA some item, feature, or content that is DA. That's a forbidden suggestion (the kind that once an AE (DF) Forum admin sees, will be deleted soon after).
