battlesiege15 -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/20/2023 9:35:19)

Thanks AQ for spreading the love and acceptance.

So is AQ officially known as AQClassic now? I've seen it in a few newsletters so was just curious.

Kaizoku -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/20/2023 14:24:14)

^
Weird that it would need that distinction when the other two already have discriminators (Worlds, 3D).

Lorekeeper -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/20/2023 21:14:56)

I'll just be cheeky and keep calling it AdventureQuest. I hope everyone enjoys this week's quest! We've been itching to do a bigger Pride release for a while now, and I can think of no better way to start a celebration of our diverse players than starting with a very special meeting. This week will feature the long awaited introduction of someone really, really cool!

Aura Knight -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/20/2023 22:49:11)

Will this be something seasonal?

I have a feeling I (and likely others) know who this someone is, but I'll probably be pleasantly surprised either way. It's Ianthe. Calling it now

I'm wondering how Erebus/Entropy play into this though. That'll be interesting to find out.

Lorekeeper -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/21/2023 17:36:58)

Aura Knight: Yep! This is a quest for an all new seasonal event.

The Hollow -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/22/2023 12:08:50)

It will be a Friday release again this week.

Kamui -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/23/2023 12:42:59)

Hey everyone, we're still hammering out stuff for the release, including a neat new tome weapon! It likely won't be ready right at the normal release time, but everything should be out later today, so look forward to it!

The Hollow -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/24/2023 1:12:03)

Sorry folks, thank you for being so patient awaiting this big event, but testing isn't going very smoothly and it is looking more like it will be ready Saturday.

NEW: The release is live! Check out the opening of AdventureQuest's all-new seasonal event - The Rainbow Path Festival! And stop by the Summer Season LTS to defend yourself against the scorching sun's rays with the new Sunscreen Misc.

Nish -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/24/2023 1:40:30)

i fight the challenge boss but in the shop , i dont see any title available

PD -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/24/2023 2:40:21)

spoiler:

I knew it was Ianthe/Media!

Anyways the challenge bossfight was really something, although once you understand the boss mechanic you should be able to beat it. It only took me... 20 attempts to figure it out. But here's what you should know:

spoiler:

1. Medea can purge all debuffs using MP

2. Medea can counterattack all your attacks. This is treated like a regular attack, based on your/their accuracy (major hint for the bossfight: Use blocking/dodging items)

3. Medea at certain points of the fight will attempt to heal up. You'll need to either have high hitcounts or inflict a stun to interrupt this.

4. Medea will use Void/Harm if you use it. Don't do it.

5. Medea will rotate between Water, Light, Water and finally Wind in a cycle.

If you're having trouble with the bossfight or don't have any dodging/blocking items, try this configuration:

spoiler:

Armor: Retro Golden Plate / Champion Holy Avenger.
Shield: Retro Golden Shield
Weapon: Anything will do here, but try using something with higher elemental resists. A stun item like Twinmaul might be the best option. I also used Eclipsed Dragonlord's Might to maintain SP for the misc upkeep.
Pet: Fairy Godmother
Misc: Communicant's Wisdom

A completely F2P strategy. Turn Ianthe undead (I'm surprised there's no anti-form shift...) and just hit away. You won't need to worry about taking as much damage because you'll take almost nothing from the regular attack, and even less from the counter-strikes. Avoid the temptation to use Harm/Void. You will eventually win but this is a very long and boring strategy to execute.

Done! A 100% F2P strategy successfully executed!

Stoic -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/24/2023 2:55:20)

Awesome rewards. Had a few scruffles with the boss but ultimately kneeled to my Eternal Champion Armor. The weapon he uses reminds me of the Frozen Time Spines. I wish we get to use it in the future. The new tome design is sooo good, too bad it won't work with my build.

ming shuen -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/24/2023 11:49:57)

Loved the release. The challenge boss was quite difficult to handle with Bloodmage, but it was a really enjoyable experience.

The special prize weapon is also really neat - Fantastic design, cool effects, and overall just really fun to play with. 10/10.

CH4OT1C! -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/24/2023 17:32:50)

I'm inherently biased against Tomes that cost tokens. We already lack coverage in that department. To release three tomes in quick succession after years of support, then make all of them tokens is something I deeply disagree with.

This particular tome, however, is one of the most worthwhile token items I have seen released in a very long time. It definitely won't be for everyone - DOT isn't exactly paired well with offensive strategies. However, having that kind of power and a quickcast 369mp eleshield on the same item is nothing short of fantastic. Then, the art. The art is easily some of the best in the entire game. A massive congratulations to @Anim (who I think is behind this one) - you truly knocked it out of the park.

<3 Thank you kindly for the love and appreciation, a lot went into this one. ~Anim

Sapphire -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/24/2023 18:57:29)

Yeah it's one of 2 tomes in the game I could make an argument for using. I like the heal poison idea. I'm not so keen to prismatic burn, though, but this being overcharged and so many turns while still being able to stack it decent enough makes it better than I expected. And the eleshield is icing on top. I was just trying to find an earth spell with many hits to partner with the new perion misc and I couldn't find a thing above 4-5 hits, and this fell into my lap at 7 hits. So that's a bit of an odd timing , so I'll take it.

Now, for me, the perfect tome would be one that had spells inside of it that replaced ones I use regularly anyway. These include Santarctic crusher, Mandate, 74th law (less used)

But to expect something like that is probs impossible.

But it does make me think that a custom tome quest would be otherworldly fantastic. Pick a base spell, pick an element, pick either pure damage or pay 50% damage for several effects to choose from. And you get 3 choices! I'd think that type of thing would be crazy good. It'd make the tome idea as a useful weapon type much much much more plausible IMO, at least for me personally.

Incantatus -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/24/2023 21:02:47)

Wow, it's nice to see the game I used to play as a kid celebrating the diversity, love, and equality of the community.

Incantatus: Let's not get into that kind of tangent, please and thank you.

Seconded. We do not tolerate racism, bigotry, xenophobia or any other extremes. This is not the place for such opinions. Take them elsewhere ~Ward

Thank you for the love and feedback, everyone! This quest is a celebration of our diverse players and staff, and it's wonderful to see folks enjoying it. It was very important to us that nothing be perfunctory about this holiday, as we wanted it to show love to queer players and show that they are seen without flaling into tokenism or corporate appeasement. It only features five of our existing queer NPCs this time (This festival had to be hosted by Jhan!), as we wanted the spotlight to be on the introduction of our wonderful Ianthe's NPC! She helped me out a lot with this quest so we could get her voice right, so be sure to send her some love!

Aura Knight -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/24/2023 22:04:12)

The art on the new tome looks very nice. I'm upset I can't pick it up due to a severe lack of tokens, however I'll get it another time assuming I'm able. Decent release.

Primate Murder -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/25/2023 1:04:03)

"Love the armor." - Medea

I was using Fall Dryad Form which is borderline naked [:D][:D][:D]

Lorekeeper -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/25/2023 11:58:33)

A more constructive alternative to either would be not joining in on baseless discriminatory accusations when staff and mods nip it in the bud. We are not getting into any extreme controversy by dedicating two releases to our queer players and staff, and to manufacture said controversy for an internet meme is not acceptable. Move on.

To follow up we want celebrate the diversity, love, and equality of the community, as such we ask you to do the same when posting. Thanks. ~Anim

Korriban Gaming -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/25/2023 12:29:34)

Not specific to this event but I feel like we didn't need another seasonal event. It adds unnecessary pressure for the staff to make another release for a particular festivity whenever we get to a time of the year when time is already short and could be better spent on other stuff like class revamps. I think alot of people would be fine with forgoing seasonal events in favor of other releases.

That being said, I always do find Pride-related items quite nice since it's usually tied to Prismatic Burn, an effect that is very useful in today's meta. Yet again, another set of stellar items, I know some have gripes about it costing tokens but for me personally I definitely don't mind supporting the game if they continue to give us good items like these, well worth the purchase. Keep it up, I look forward to seeing more amazing items in future releases!

The boss fight is also reasonably challenging for a first-timer going in unprepared but after you familiarize yourself with the cycle, it's quite manageable. An interesting fight for sure, also glad to see the checkpoint system as well as the ability to skip right to the boss after the first completion!

Aura Knight -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/25/2023 12:56:40)

I'd have to agree with there being too many seasonal events. Doesn't that distract from main updates? I get this is used as a character intro but can't understand it being being seasonal. There will be a time people get tired of it too.

Lorekeeper -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/25/2023 13:14:21)

Lighter seasonal releases, by taking less than a week's workload, actually help to make time for the bigger mainline releases that take up more than one week of work to develop. Especially with major projects that take much longer still, they help to catch up by being a shorter break from them than, say, a saga finale would be. In addition, this is something we've been wanting to do for a long time, and no less important than any other of our seasonal releases.

In terms of the narrative, they've also been a major help with world building, as well as maintaining a balance of levity and gravity: Since the unfinished sagas and loose threads were largely very serious world-altering events, the effort to wrap those up made the story stay on the latter side of the scales. There's still been some comedy in the main story, but seasonal stories are less dependent on the tone of those sagas. While the summer events move the main story, seasonal content provides a chance to show the world changing and reacting, have quicker little side-plots, and lean more towards lighthearted content.

PD -> RE: =AQ= Rainbow Path Festival (6/25/2023 19:52:42)

Not to throw the discussion in another way, but I've been wondering if it would be possible to create a universal portal/hub where you'd be able to go to any event any time of the year for a fee (and of course, you buy the paintings to never have to pay again), like you do with other rotational stuff. Even though the seasonal releases are easier to make, there's still accessibility issues in regard to more and more releases and content being only conditionally accessible. The void rework that is to happen has been requested heavily by players to be able to skip/speedup the rotational speed.

I think it's only a fair consideration that these seasonal questlines ought to follow in a similar path. Just some food for thought.
