Book 3: Convergence - The Arrival of the Magi & The Mana Tree
Hey there, heroes!

This week, Book 3's main story continues with a new cutscene quest: The Arrival of the Magi!

[image]https://cms.battleon.com/DF/images/ARRIVALOFTHEMAGIdn.png[/image]

With this quest, the last pieces are finally in place, and the assault on the Rose encampment is imminent...

Also this week, Zvezdana has a new task for you with The Mana Tree!

Explore the massive mana altered tree looming over the Fissure-affected area in search of a fruit that could help the Magesters last just a bit longer...

And maybe even take one for yourself!

Head over to Outpost Yeden to play this week's quests: The Arrival of the Magi and The Mana Tree!

Also this week, new cosmetic weapons have arrived!

A whole set of IceWept cosmetic weapons are now available from the cosmetics shop in Cysero's Superstore!

Finally, a new quality of life feature and a bug fix!
  • Graphics quality can now be adjusted using keybinds.
    • Use [ to decrease quality and ] to increase quality.
  • Fixed an issue where some on-hit specials would not appear in the Special skill button.

And that's all for this week! We'll be trying to do another main story release next week if we can... (otherwise it'll be the week after). The clash between The Rose and the Mageseterium is about to begin!

Oh. I have been away from the game for some time now due to work - but this latest set of cutscenes had me grinning.
I feel less like we're gearing up for a war, and more along the lines of "Welp, another Wednesday then" (remember when we used to have mid week releases on wednesdays?)

I cant get over "They keep my feet warm" - whoever came up with that deserves something. Idk about a medal, but certainly a hug.

Looking forward to whats to come - even though I realize that the frostval events are going to take priority over things here.
I wish that some of the AQW team would come back and help out here if possible. Ease the load a little - but thats my opinion, based on the veeeeeerrrrryyyyyyyy limited and surface level info I have.

Gonna test out the Mana tree - see what it does. :D

Flabagast -> RE: Friday, December 8th Design Notes: Book 3: Convergence - The Arrival of the Magi & The Mana Tree (12/11/2023 7:48:16)

Two quests today! I'll start with the Mana Tree.

spoiler:

I really liked this one. The AQ3D Arcangrove music felt appropriate, and made for some nice atmosphere. I couldn't help but find myself thinking about the entangled creatures again and what their altered physiology could mean... especially those weird togs... I also liked the broken golem hidden behind those gorillaphants and another sprouted manafruit, it was a really neat bit of environmental storytelling. And the way connects back to the start of the quest was really clever too. It felt very Dark Souls. A new consumable is nice too!

As the for story quest: ha, I'd actually forgotten that Warlic and Alexander were coming. Seeing that burning slipper'd foot gave me weird mix of surprise, delight and humour all at once. Speaking of, man I am so ready for Alexander to become a light-hearted, comic relief character. After everything the guy's been through I feel he deserves some levity. Also, at first I found it weird that Ostromir knew about Warlic being an Infernal, but thinking about it for bit I realised that the whole Wargoth fiasco might have made that info pretty common knowledge. It makes sense that someone as renowned as the Blue Mage probably couldn't get away from people noticing Wargoth's cataclysmic defeat coinciding with Warlic's reappearance... And subsequent freezing. I imagine that may be another reason why he hid for so long.

But that aside, definitely excited for the final clash with the Rose! It'll surely be one heck of a finale and I look forward to seeing what you guys are cooking!
