LUPUL LUNATIC -> GBI on Lucky Strikes on spells weapons (12/27/2023 9:43:37)

I am very confused with how the boost is done/calculated for the weapons that trade melee into boosting the Lucky Strikes on spells for their respective element.
Here is my confusion :

quote:

We have weapons like cutlasses that trade 15% MAGIC weapon damage +5% MC (magic weapon) for a total of 20% magic weapon damage to boost spells by +30% damage.
This +30% spell damage equates to +60% Melee because spells are doing 200% Melee baseline.

So on one hand we have weapons that trade 20% magic weapon damage for 60% melee worth on casting spells.

Then we have some new weapons like Scythe of Serenia (Magic Light) and Lunar Hare weapons (Magic Water) that trade straight up HP costs (which are not influenced by the fact the weapons are magic) and MC which is 5% magic weapon damage to boost Lucky Strike chance on spells by x4.

My napkin math says this on these weapons :

quote:

They trade 15% Melee and 5% x 0.75 (magic weapon MC) , so they trade more melee than cutlasses except that the boost is only x4 LS chance on spells. This means :
x4 LS chance on a spell is +30% LS chance on a spell, Lucky Strikes are independant of magic/melee/spells types so it equates to only 30% melee boost to spells (the conversion is +1% LS chance = +1% melee)

So are these weapons underpowered? Shouldn't they be doing more than 60% melee on spells in the form of Lucky Strikes because they trade more melee than cutlasses and the Lucky Strikes need to account and be x2 for spells since LS chances are static across the board and if we are to achieve a set % Melee value we have to treat LS chance on spells the same as LS chance on normal attacks.

What are your opinions on this matter? I need to be enlightened and also want to hear more opinions on this matter as well [:)]

P.S: So i was shown that the items follow different standards regarding the boosts to spells however the MC on Serenia Scythe should also follow the same standard as the MC for cutlasses.

This has been a bit of a discussion...the value of increased LS rates

Some claim that a lucky strike is valued at 150% melee. Not sure if that's accurate, but if it is then for every 10% added you add 150% melee to the total damage in 10 turns. Here, increasing it to 40% (+30) means +450% melee, divided by 10 turns is 45%/turn.

So is this paying 20% melee (15 via HP and 5 via MC) for +45% damage overall?

However, I have also heard that +1% change in chance = 1% melee like you said. So this is part of the discussion. And is base rate changes valued the same as hypercrit changes?
