Book 3: Convergence - The Final Steps
Hey there, heroes!

Happy Lunar New Year! This week in DragonFable, we take another step into the Fissure, as Book 3's main story continues with The Final Steps!

[image]https://cms.battleon.com/DF/images/THEFINALSTEPSdn.png[/image]

Having fought your way through the Rose encampment, you and your allies now stand at the precipice of the Fissure itself. The Rose's haphazard Scaffold awaits.

But as you descend, Jaania and Akanthus's plans are falling into place...

Head over to Outpost Yeden to play this week's release: The Final Steps!

Also this week, some bug fixes and updates. (Don't forget to clear your cache!)
  • Added a safeguard for the Sulen'Eska spawn bug. (Still unsure of why the bug happens/inconsistent to replicate)
  • Base Mage/Warrior/Rogue tooltips have been updated.
  • Known Epoch and DragonLord tooltips issues have been resolved.
  • Base Mage/Warrior/Rogue Attack now recovers 15 MP.
  • Mage's Meditate skill now recovers 30% MP.

And that's all for this week! Have a safe and prosperous year, everyone!

Happy Lunar New Year, and a Happy nearly Birthday to you Verlyrus!
spoiler:

Warlic's theory on the Fissure's effects was certainly interesting. It makes sense given that those Elementals we fight on the way down weren't Entangled in any way, though they are unbound, and I believe the only other place we find Unbound Elementals is the Exaltia Tower which makes enough sense I think. Could it be that the 'pressure' that the Mana from the Fissure exerts on elementally neutral beings is an early form of Entanglement? That is to say, their soulthreads are pulled and twisted due to such exposure to the Mana Core? That Mana Elemental is a most perplexing case of Entanglement though; a being composed of raw mana sporting draconic features as a result of being Entangled... perhaps the closer a being's nature is to Mana itself, the more easily its form is twisted to resemble the Mana Core... or simply the shape of Lore itself...

Uh, so I guess this one gave me a lot to puzzle over. I'm sure Jaania will stumble onto some revelations when she tries to usurp the Mana Core.

We appreciate the all of the work that goes into these releases, team. Hopefully you aren't pushing yourselves too hard.

Oh that was a very interesting choice of dialogue at the bottom of the ravine there.
Jaania is unravelling, or becoming more cocooned (depending on how you see it), and that somehow has been less interesting than what preceded that cutscene.

I dont know why, but it gave me mild flirting vibes (albeit one sided) between Zvezdana and Alexander (Or maybe that was just me) - but that was a nice touch showing that there is an inherent interest for her, in what goes on even beyond the scope of the Shapeless. Not to mention how within the span of 3/4 rooms, Alex went from "So its INTERESTING how I got this way, ISNT IT WARLIC?" to "Warlic, take the weird lady away from me this instant." XD

Regarding the topic of souls. Writing this, it gives me some thoughts.
I feel like the concept of the souls being pushed being quite interesting. To me, it semes closer to a magnet being affected by different fields and different metals - some pushed, some pulled, others ignored outright, and so on. Mentally thats the image I got at least.
I like how Aegis was introduced to others - otherwise you only see him in RARE occurrences - and now he's meeting the main cast: Warlic, Xan, Seppy, and Alteon.

I wasn't sure if it was because I had it equipped but Zvezdana mentions that I'm also a chaosweaver - when we explain our connection to Aegis. I tried again with other classes, but it remains.
Or is having a soul-ally just a general thing for anyone who is a chaos weaver - I'm not 100% certain here.

I also love how we look like we're having a mini panic attack when mentioning our affinity to ice - like he's thinking back to when he was frozen for so long.
Which brings me to the thoughts I had when writing this.

We have an affinity towards Ice - both through Aegis, and through our time spent frozen.
Does that mean Jaania also has that? Similar stories - or would her newly formed soul-ally make her driven to another part of the elemental plane?
Because I dont see her struggling as much either being so close to the core.
Arkantus apparently is rejected by magic (or to that effect) - so I'm curious how he's also doing.
But the other recruits - again. Alteon feels like he's getting CRUSHED, and the rose are just... there. Makes me wonder.

Well, now we know what the big reward item is for Convergence.
I really enjoy the Faction-customizable Tytanvisage helmet, but the Hawkscry's Legacy does have better stat-boosts, so... Yeah. Pretty decent.
I would've liked a special pet, though.

@Roxas
spoiler:

Regarding our branding as a CW in the eyes of the Magesters, it's not because of our interactions with Secundus. It is because of a currently obscure canon lore (by obscure, only those who have a good depth of reading of the DF Forum Encyclopedia, in this case its class entry) regarding what defines a SW. In a nutshell, our hero is considered a CW due to us using the Weaving art in combat, something that should only be the benefit of the headmaster.
