Book 3: Arachnalchemy Has Arrived!
Hey there heroes!

It's been a while since the end of the Void Ship saga, but Arachnalchemy is finally here!

Introducing: Arachnalchemy!

The Giant Gulosedax is a vicious and invasive species that inherits the magical traits of other spiders it devours. Help Riadne contain and capture these dangerous specimens and she'll teach you how to use their enchanted silk to imbue your Health Potions with customizable effects!

By capturing Giant Gulosedaxes, you'll earn up to 8 points to use to imbue your Health Potions with effects such as extra stats, Damage Reduction, or even additional DoT or HoT effects, opening a new level of strategy! If you have at least 1 point unlocked, you can also buy an Arachnalchemy Lab (500 Dragon Coins) for your house to imbue potions from the comfort of home.

Fully train Arachnalchemy to earn a new Badge, as well!

Some notes about Arachnalchemy:
  • Arachnalchemy training and potion imbuing all require a Dragon Amulet.
  • You'll need to re-complete the quest "Just Chillin'" from Aegis in Bk3 Ravenloss to access Riadne's house. (Sorry about that! We didn't add a quest tracker back when that quest was made!)
  • This also means you need to completely finish the Void Ship saga to access Arachnalchemy.
  • Arachnalchemy only affects Health Potions, and NOT Mana Potions.
  • Arachnalchemy does NOT affect Health Potions used by temporary classes.
  • As usual, numbers and balance are subject to change!
Get ready to hunt those spiders and customize your Health Potions!

2/22/2025 update:
  • Maximum limit for points usable for Arachnalchemy has been increased to 16, unlocking 1 point every hunt. (Each imbuement is still limited to a maximum of 8 points).
  • Mutagen U (Duration imbue) cost increased to 4 points, up from 2.
  • Mutagen U hunt has had its Bonus reduced to 50, Avoidance reduced to 50, Defenses reduced to 70, and healing per turn halved to .5% per turn.
  • All in Your Mind has been added to Chapter 16 of the HHD Storybook.

Also this week, we have a new cosmetic item available for Dragon Coins!

The DragonKeeper's Guard helmet is perfect for gardening and raising baby dragons... even at the same time! You can purchase this new cosmetic helm from the DC Cosmetics shop for 300 DCs!

And that's all for this week!

Hooray for Arachnalchemy! ^_^ I managed to beat all except for the final spider... I'm going to have to get back to that one.
All in all, I really like the option to further customize Health potions - and it was just a fun idea to be adventuring with Riadne again. Though I understand why she doesn't get out much anymore nowadays. She's a busy woman. I hope she won't buckle under the strain...

Vaalirus -> RE: Friday, February 21st Design Notes: Book 3: Arachnalchemy Has Arrived! (2/23/2025 0:37:09)

Somehow, I did not expect a training boss to hit like a truck

spoiler:

I must say I'm still surprised that Arachnalchemy is finally here. It will be interesting to see how it can be incorporated into stat augmentation when you need to heal during rotations while fighting in the Inn but as of right now the Mutagen imbuements are looking the most useful for when you're in a fix, at least at a glance anyway, though it will be interesting to experiment with the others.

On another note, it was hard to read about how Riadne has been keeping up with Izaac's Void Madness condition. It's obvious it's been hard on them both, but I have to imagine the whole situation is really taking its toll on her with trying to find a means of curing or at least soothing his mind all the while he remains a threat to himself and her, and quite possibly their child, as his symptoms persist even with his current treatments. It's a bad situation all around and one I hope doesn't cause her to break because I have to imagine if she went out of her way to find any means to help Myshka with her condition then I have to assume she's putting in the same amount of work for Izaac on a constant basis.

Additionally, I do hope Izaac becomes well enough they can be around Tomix eventually because I can't really imagine any outcome where they happen to see him having one of his "bad days" being a good one especially if it's their first encounter.

Laeon val Observis -> RE: Friday, February 21st Design Notes: Book 3: Arachnalchemy Has Arrived! (2/23/2025 2:59:42)

As I suspected, the final spider was quite powerful initially. Using my default stat build and All resist gear worthy of an Inn confrontation, it says something that a 100 WIS DmK ran into MP issues, so the updates to the U spider is welcome.

As for the perks of the new trade skill, maybe it's just still a remnant of (HP) potions being last resort limited ammo impressions on me that I don't really see much use on the offensive empowerments. Perhaps I'll explore more some other time, but I'll default to a max HoT/DoT combination for now.
