AQDeathKnight -> Season of Gifting Question (4/10/2025 23:16:08)

This question may have been asked before, but is there any consideration of making previous Season of Gifting sets purchasable packages?

I for one have fallen in love with the Wing/Wishweaver set. And would gladly pay $100 for a set. Considering that there are many rare items that are still in the system, why not bring them back like they did in AQW.

As someone who purchased the Doom Knight T-Shirt a few years ago to having the Doom Knight helmet being purchasable. Having "rare" items in an offline-single player games doesn't seem to motivate me. Other who donated in 2023 may feel different.

As you say, I'm sure its been asked before, and I think very unlikely, outside of getting a Golden Dev Ticket to re-make a specific component at a time.

The main reasons (I think) behind not bringing these back are:

1) They were stated to be one-offs, so going back on this would presumably be received poorly (although you could theoretically get mechanical clones, with different art, to counter this, like "twisted" GGBs).

2) The full set cost more than $100 at the time, if you calculate the donated z-token cost, so this would be received very poorly, I imagine, by those who then paid the greater cost before.

Honestly, it's a good thought, I know I'd love to see some things be made available in some form because I missed out. However I agree with I agree with KhalJJ here, and wonder about the price tag and possible blowback from other players. Having said that, it really does depend on what both the dev team and a given community member believe to be the "value" of a contest reward item.

Without getting into the numbers too seriously and using a round number as an example, let's say you win a contest's top level by spending $100USD. Is that $100USD going to the strong mechanics of the armor, the bragging rights from having a (relatively) unique item, or both? Or is there some other "value" here? I don't think the answer is going to be straightforward, nor do I honestly think a given player will provide you the same mental calculus twice [;)].

I don't think this precludes us from having an eleswapped, renamed, different-looking item with identical mechanics, though. We have precedent for previously permarare Frostval items-- an at times contentious subject in itself-- coming back with a new element in the form of Samukematsuri Oni Mask shifted to earth as Perion Crest, and available for gold at that. So who knows?

Yeah, you make a good point with the donations being over $100 USD. But I think it would be refreshing to have nostalgic parma-rare items being broke back in the same way that the AQW has Wheel of Doom.

We could have a system similar to GGB where we can choose a newer version of older items. That way people who might have the original item can still preserve their uniqueness. While I enjoy a lot of the new items and mechanics. I can speak for all of us when I say nostalgia is a big driving force for playing this game. Banking on that nostalgia by having a new mechanic where you get get vaulted items seems an easy win.

I know they still have those item codes [:D].

It depends on a winner of a contest.
As far as I know since I won multiple times,
as long as a winner asks The Hollow
if it would be possible to let it
be made a clone/copy as a GGB item,
then the result depends on The Hollow.
