I've been made aware that the staff intend to post a FAQ to cover how the gifting set and top gifter reskins are going to work this year. I'm sure that the staff already intend to cover everything below, but I'd nonetheless like to request that the post includes anwers to the following:

  • What are the tier requirements (e.g., Top 25/50 etc.) for the Giftmaster and Community sets?
  • Are player suggestions for the mechanics of these two sets going to be allowed this year? If yes, will anyone being able to suggest mechanics, or will it be only a subset of people? Will there be any additional restrictions that players need to know about for the suggested mechanics themselves? Do you intend to advertise this information to players in-game so that they can join in too? Deadlines and other logistical details would also be helpful.
  • Will players have any influence over the selection of mechanics (player-suggested or otherwise)? If yes, how? Is it going to be the same as last year with a vote? If so, will its structure differ from last year? Or will another method be chosen? If players have no influence over the chosen mechanics, then how will they be chosen?
  • An important omission from the newsletter this week are the Golden Dev Tickets. Does this omission imply that they've been removed? If no, has the distribution of these tickets changed, and in what ways?
  • Following on, has the scope of these tickets also changed? What item types do they apply to and what are the restrictions?
  • Are the daily rewards going to be distributed throughout the contest, similar to previous years? If not, how does the system differ?
  • Are the rules on receiving donations going to be the same as last Summer, or will they follow the rules of the last Winter Donation contest from a few months back (e.g., is it going to be account oriented, or character oriented)? Have the windows of activity changed, or are they still the same as in previous years?

    I would also add on the question of how feasible it might be to show the item animations prior to the end of the contest - I do believe there would be players that donate more if there's cool idle/attack/skill/etc animations

    Are they preventions for this year donation to avoid this type of situation ever happen again , it really promote tribalism inside the community and ruin the spirit of gifting

    In light of the extensive cheating incidents that took place last year, and the extensive disruptions that were caused by the extra time we had to dedicate to scrutiny and moderation, allow me one moment of strictness so that we can focus on the spirit of gifting: We ask everyone the charity of being on their best behavior throughout the contest. This is not a place to air dirty laundry, cast blame or aspersions, or otherwise make any efforts to reignite the drama of last year.

    We are very thoroughly aware of EVERYTHING that happened last year, and do not need either reminders or attempts to get us on anyone's side. This concludes all that needs to be said about the incidents.



    Thank you for the questions, everyone. We will have a thorough breakdown of event details in upcoming communications, and players can rest assured that last year's situation will not repeat itself in any way, shape, or form.

    Additional questions:

    - What constitutes activity for the purposes of receiving donations, besides winning a battle? What about sorting items in the inventory? Purchasing or selling items? Visiting a House, guarded or otherwise? Obtaining a temporary No-Drop or a Guest from a quest or house? If a comprehensive list can be laid out, that would be great.

    - Will there be stretch goals this year? If so, how will they (amount and additional reward(s)) be determined?

    - What happens in the event of tiebreakers? How are tiebreaker rankings determined on the leaderboard?

    - How will the matter of non-winning extravagant contributions be resolved going forward? That is to say, those just shy of the Golden Dev Ticket holders like last year.


    And based off of what has been revealed, a point of feedback: raffled items with the option to automatically claim it does not encourage activity throughout the 2-month period. My recommendation is to have raffled amounts be highest at the start, trending downwards weekly, or have the number of raffle winners at the start and end be fewer than the middle period.

    If I may also be so bold, I'd like to ask what are some feedback that was rejected or not yet implemented, and the reason(s) why not. It would give players a greater understanding of what the team prioritizes, so that better feedback can be given moving forward.

    Oh, the Warforged set looks incredible! I remember the original community art post on twitter and the AE official discord, and I'm loving the polished version. I can't wait to give it a try and make mobs perish in the face of our burning glory! [:D]
    This year has brought us the beginning of the end of an excellent saga in the form of The Last Line, and Twin Gambit has set the stage for further great design, from writing and mobs to rewards. What a time to be playing AQ Classic!

    I don't think I'll be able to donate very much for this contest, however I'm looking forward to people generously supporting the game. I'll be cheering you all on from the sidelines! <3

    Warforged isn't based on tie Eight Tyrannies. Thematically, it's what War would look like if they weren't conserving power for the plan that they've been preparing for and will conclude throughout the Final Solstice. Imagine, for instance, if the Chosen had returned from their time in Death's realm to find that all of their allies fell as well, or couldn't make it back to the battle time to save their friends from Pestilence. An alternative future for Burning Solstice or The Last Ride that leads to the emergence of a ruthless War.

    Fixed the wording on the guide post, it implied the Rubicon Legion set was obtained through gold gifts, when that's how Winter works. My bad!

    I think this part is slightly gatekeep-y, as most of the super-active donors would be level-capped, so players with sub-L130 chars are missing out on a significant portion of receipt chances. Would it be possible to widen this range solely for token gifting?

    Also, not for this summer, but the future - I would like to ask if it's possible to look into turning this level range into a somewhat inverse function of donated gold amount, allowing lower-levelled chars higher chances of receiving gold donations if the amount is lesser, to prevent huge gold influx during winter donation drives that invalidate the early/mid-game gold economy.

    That's the only issue I'd like to raise, so far. Kudos to the dev team on the FAQ - I'm particularly happy about the "donate 5k to guarantee the raffle prize of the day" part!

    Warforged looks incredible!! and the FAQ and changes are helpful, especially the daily giveaway set, looks neat!

    I think clarity is needed on the level range for eligibility from the FAQ that Tel has quoted - is this a typo or mis-paste? I think most were under the impression this did not apply to z-token gifting.

    If it did apply and still does apply, that raises questions.

    There may be some clever machinery in place I'm unaware of which solve exactly this, but superficially this level requirement would imply that in fact, to maximise your token odds, you do indeed need to play multiple characters (0-40,40-80,80-120, and 120-150 so minimum 4, I guess?) - ie. to expose your account to possible token donations from all possible donating account levels.

    I'd like to correct a slight miscommunication. Players are not required to be within 20 levels of the original Z-Token gifter. To qualify to receive a Z-Token gift, characters simply need to be above Level 20 and active on that day.

    The latter part of that sentence (in the FAQ), in relation to vaulting, was not true of last year's. It was specifically mentioned, I believe, that vaulting it would not change a character that had won a prize back into an eligible one.

    Why the change? It seems like a step backwards in fairness, especially with the inclusion of the new guaranteed prize option...or perhaps is it because of that option so that you don't need to donate 5k on another character to receive more than one copy?

    ^To clarify, this has not changed. A player cannot win a daily prize multiple times on the same character, even if they gift another 5k in a single day.

    The release is LIVE! The Warforged Armor is currently a placeholder as it is still under development, and will be released as soon as testing concludes.

    My question is more along the lines of if you vault a daily reward on a character that won it, wait a week for it to be in rotation again will that character be eligible to win the prize again? Because previously that was not the case, once a character had won it they were no longer eligible at all for the duration of the event even if the reward was vaulted.

    EDIT: The FAQ has been updated to clarify that you indeed can't win another daily prize that you've previously won on a character. [:)]

    Is there any chance that Hodokoshi gets a Ranged toggle? I know Caissa doesn't have a Ranged version but Prismatic Vanguard/Crescent/Glory do exist which are basically Ranged 0-proc/100-proc clones of Caissa. Kinetic Tempest is also apparently a clone of Destruction Burst but will get an SP version despite the original spell not having one.

    Turns out that Kinetic Tempest is actually a clone of Arctic Tornado, which was surprising given it's a package item but no complaints here. Regardless, a Ranged toggle on Hodokoshi would still be appreciated since a Ranged Caissa actually exists in the game and DEX users don't really get anything from the daily gifts.
