Bolter -> Can we please do away with weapons facing backwards? (2/7/2026 6:25:39)

As the title says

I know it's usually the case with most daggers/knives to make the player look as if he/she is going to use it the stab the target with it, but it's just really odd seeing weapons faced backwards, especially in some armors where it will look as if the player is stabbing him/herself. Moreover, that is not even the only way to stab with daggers or knives, they can still be used to stab even when held normally like the case with most of the other weapons, and even then, daggers and knives can also be used for slashing, it's not like they can only be used for stabbing.

Also how is it that the Melee form of Lily of the Doomed Vows is facing backwards when it's not even a dagger?

With the weapons facing backwards, it looks even more odd when doing the normal attacks with them, where it will look as if the player is hitting the target with the rear of the weapon.

Therefore, is it possible to not have weapons to face backwards anymore and flip the arts of those that are currently facing backwards so that they will now face forward like most other weapons?

Yeahhh, as much as I love the style of the reverse grip? I kind of have to agree that it rarely looks good in the context of AQ's attack animations (and armors with atypical grips make it look even more bizarre), and it tends to leave me reluctant to use such items. Which is frustrating because I do genuinely appreciate the visual variety, and "one solitary knife" is one of my favorite choices of weaponry in media so I'm generally glad to see more of it anywhere, so asking for less of both feels kind of wrong.

If we want to implement the reverse grip elsewhere... I know armours are a lot of work on every level but, much like how the vampire subrace takes cues from the player's face palette without displaying it, how the old Starsaviour/Starslayer armours imply the equipped weapon's element by changing the beams' color, and how Assassin's Dual Wield operates, I feel like we could have one or two armours that opt to at most imply the equipped weapon in some fashion but instead display a pre-set weapon (or one of a few if we're being ambitious) designed specifically with the armour's reverse grip in mind. The "small version of weapon/shield displayed at the bottom of the screen" thing is pretty standard these days, so I feel the only big left-field ask here would be extra art inherent to the idea... but as a hobby artist I'm aware that is a nontrivial ask even before the process of animating enters the picture.
