Book 1 Revisited: Saving Lymcrest
Hey there, heroes!

This week, we have a massive Book 1 revisited release! The entirety of the Saving Lymcrest questline has been updated!

[image]https://cms.battleon.com/DF/images/2026-03-20-LymcrestDN.png[/image]

From helping the miners with their elemental problems, to defeating Xan and securing the Pyronomicon, the quests have now been updated with music, new boss mechanics, and slightly updated rewards!

However, while the quest "The End?" has music, but the titan fight itself has been unchanged. Titan dragons still need a bit of work in general, and this wasn't the week for that.

See below for all the details!

Also this week, a new customization catalyst is now available!

The Lightbringer's Oath Catalyst unlocks the awesome Lightbringer customization for Shadowhunter!

You can obtain the Lightbringer's Oath Catalyst from the Customization Catalyst shop for 400 Dragon Coins.

Now for the update details!
  • Ash and Jimmy the Eye will now direct you to Warlic and Saving Lymcrest until the questline is completed. You can revisit this new dialogue from the Revisit Wars selection.
  • The helping Lymcrest quests are no longer random. You still need 3 Elemental Essences to access the Saving Lymcrest quests, but you can now choose which quests you want to do to unlock it.
  • The Elemental Essence merge rewards have had their costs significantly reduced. Lower level merges only need 1 essence to upgrade, and high level merges require 2.
  • You can now create a metal weapon in the merge shop for the price of 3 Elemental Essences.
  • Saving Lymcrest rewards have been slightly updated. Lower level items have had their stats and required levels increased. Rewards also no longer require a Dragon Amulet to use. Saving Lymcrest quests also no longer drop Elemental Essences.
  • Xan's Volcano Fortress now has a familiar old helm available as a drop, with updated stats.
  • Huffpuff, Splashy, Warlic, and Xan now all have updated mechanics and scaling (some more than others!)
  • These quests have also received increased Exp and Gold drops.
  • Instead of conjuring an illusion of Warlic, Nythera will now have Jimmy the Eye create a hologram for you to interact with.
  • A number of bugs with Warlic/Illusion displayed when returning from quests or leaving certain dialogues have been fixed.
  • Anything else I may have forgotten!

And that's all for this week!

Deni3000 -> RE: Friday, March 20th Design Notes: Book 1 Revisited: Saving Lymcrest (3/20/2026 22:32:36)

I didn't have too much trouble personally with the updated bosses, and I think the music was well chosen, especially for the final quest cutscene.

One thing I did notice when testing if the quests were progression locked is that when Warlic isn't a hologram, he now has his original art back instead of the flowy fabric and hair version. I don't know if this was new or not, but is there a particular reason this change was made? Only reason I ask is because
spoiler:

the Book 2 quests in the dreamscape show a close up of Warlic's flowy art, zoomed in on the eye, and the original Warlic model has a different eye color. It might not communicate as well to a new player that it's Warlic in those dream shards with the different hair and eyes.

I am also a big fan of hologram Warlic, but is there a lore reason I'm missing as to why real Warlic can't be there after the War at See?

Edit: Totally forgot I was on a character that beat the main story lol. Came back to say that I just replayed the spoiler-tagged quest and it does explicitly mention that it's Warlic's face, so all set there too. Thanks for the info, arcanum - I assume the game updates the model when the quest is beaten then, which makes more sense. I have zero character slots that have both beaten that specific quest and also not finished book 1, so I didn't notice at all.

Warlic's AQ model was originally used before he got his DF one in the showdown against the Avatars later in the story. Using his updated model from the get-go kinda ruins the impact the introduction of his new one has.

The Warlic hologram is for after you beat the Book 1 finale since he's not around anymore. Since you already beat Book 1 I'm assuming, clearing the updated content just updates your progression tracker to where it's normally supposed to be.
