Book 4: Twinned Doom - A Hero is Invited!

Hey there, heroes!

This week, Book 4 begins! With Greenguard now mostly at peace, Queen Victoria has invited you to a gala in Swordhaven!

While the nobles may want to praise you and brush aside everything that happened with the Rose, the Queen has a far more important reason for you and your dragon to attend. The Proclamation Rift in the Deadlands still remains open, and though it may not pose an immediate threat, perhaps those beyond its glow may have certain answers...

Speak to Ash in Bk3 Falconreach to begin Book 4: Twinned Doom!

Note: Book 4 requires completion of Book 3 to play.
Also, coming soon, a new customization for DragonLord is on the way!

Finally, you can now access and save your Dragon Base class from Bk1 Sunbreeze Grove. To not completely unbalance the lower levels, their most powerful skills, Unleash, Final Blast, and Potion, require Book 1 Dragonsgrasp story completion to unlock. Also, because these classes can now be accessed a little earlier than the main Book 1 story classes, adjustments may be made in the future regarding things such as MP costs and general power level.

Also in accordance with their new accessibility, the Voyager's Charm will now also work with the Dragon Base classes!
And that's all for this week!

Vaalirus -> RE: =DF= June 27th Design Notes: Book 4: Twinned Doom - A Hero is Invited! (6/28/2026 0:44:52)

And so it begins...

spoiler:

Should've anticipated the nobles of Greenguard would have still had their heads up their own butts when it came to the aftermath of the Rose's defeat but hearing that they're pretending they never even supported them is frustrating beyond belief. Hopefully, they won't present a problem later but I honestly doubt it.

Furthermore, I did not expect the literal first quest in Book 4 to have us immediately be approached by the those attacking from the Deadlands rift, but it is certainly a welcome sight. As speculated, and Mihyun's dialogue, would indicate the water invaders from the Deadlands Rift had come from the Elemental Plane of Water, an area that would have previously been under Neso's control, and as previously feared the Plane itself has been losing ground to whoever is attacking them from the Wastes to acquire their water crystals although for what purpose that could serve, I couldn't even begin to guess.

On another note, rather interesting that they refer to themselves as 'Hyonites' as the name would suggest it's meant to trace back to Hyonix in some capacity and if so, I wonder if the current incarnation of the Great Dragon might number among these people now or will soon come into play given that we just had a quest about them with Aquella and Draco picking up familiar sensations from Mihyun is very suspect at the moment. If Hyonix is with them, then I think that fact alone would illustrate how poorly things have gone for the Plane of Water if even the Dragon that is meant to defend them would rather usher them into Lore rather than protect their place on the Elemental Plains as a whole.

Then, of course, was the inevitable return of the Shadowscythe. I must say, I did not expect them to reveal themselves so soon, but I suppose now might be the best time for them to do so. The Avatars are off the chess board, the Land of Dragons is currently still recovering from the Proclamation Rifts, and Aequilibria is ready to 'refresh' the planet. What is concerning immediately though is that they are aware of who Mihyun is and how her mother, the one presumably leading the water invasion force, reacts. Which in turn would suggest the forces of doom have once again been monitoring their targets very closely and for Aequilbria knows for how long at this point.

A great start to this new saga.

"Just when I thought I was out... they pull me back in."

Although the one nit-pick I have right now is that all the BK3 side stories should be removed from BK4 Falconreach, unless BK4 literally starts immediately after BK3.

I was not expecting the start of Book 4 this year, but I was very happy to see it! :D

An interesting start to the new chapter, with some suspicions confirmed - and a decent fight with an old enemy returned, wearing a new face.
Game on!

And before I forget: my compliments to the team for the art.
Everything looks great! ??

Book 4 woooooo!

spoiler:

Very interesting to know there are Water Elves living in the Plains. And as Vaalirus has said, their possible connection to Hyonix feels rather timely, given what we just learned about their last incarnation. I suspect the Water Elives (Aquella's kind that is) are going to play a significant role in this storyline, which I'm very much looking forward too. Always keen for more Great Dragon stuff too. Also curious about what Book 4's title might mean. 'Twinned Doom' might simply carry a double meaning of qreat peril or cruel fate, alongside literal Doom, but there's probably more to it than that.

It was nice to see so many of our Book 3 friends at the gala as well! I'm sure Notha's knowledge will come in good handy.

Oh and I really liked the parallels with the opening of Books 1 and 3. Seems wherever we go, whatever we're up against, the Hero's adventure always begins with them standing on a high threshold with a dragon whizzing past. :)

Overall very excited to see the beginning of a new chapter for Dragonfable!
