AxelMechRaven -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (5/23/2010 12:02:35)

I may be late on this, but I still recognize an anime reference even if I don't watch 'em anymore.
Besides the other obvious ones in Akiba, the character Ryoku is a a reference to DBZ and I think Street Fighter (?)
Anyways, it's what would happen if Goku and Ryu did the fusion dance thingy together. And the Soul Nuke attack is a parody of the Spirit Bomb.

EDIT: lol, that was a typo. I didn't know if he was Street Fighter or from another 2d fighting game I can't think of.

Genoclysm -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (5/23/2010 20:15:14)

The series is Street Fighter. You only left off two letters.

two things: 1: please post which game it's in. 2: aqworlds: Mythsong: metallika, Lead Zeppelin, Mozzy Mogbourne, Beatles, not to mention stairway to haven. even some non-music references like Falco. Heck, just Nickname Mythsong "the land of references".

drmonkey22 -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (6/1/2010 23:42:40)

In AQ Worlds when Drakath kills Sepulchure it looks like hes using the death spell from Final Fantasy

sky222 -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (6/2/2010 0:20:11)

This one is hard to notice.Rly
There was this one movie I learned in which a wise alien called Klaatu(DF AK)comes to earth:and necromancers have to be wise right(their wisards just more powerful)
Prolly not intention but idc

Genoclysm -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (6/2/2010 8:48:20)

Actually I think Klaatu is originally from Evil Dead. (Though... it could have been spoofing something else.) The phrase "Klaatu verata nictu" is very important in that movie. I probably butchered the spelling though. And yes, it has a great deal to do with necromancy.

Randomnity -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (6/2/2010 9:19:48)

Time for me to shine my nerdiness! Those threee words originally came from The Day the Earth Stood Still, to deactivate the giant robot that was currently destroying everything, or in the process of destroying everything. It then became popular (the words).

AxelMechRaven -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (6/3/2010 20:16:01)

I think I just found my favorite spoof. This one was a little subtle, though, because he was in the corner.
The Captain from the locker looks almost EXACTLY like Sephiroth, but his hair isn't as long and black, and his skin seems a bit dark.
DARE TO COMPARE:

Sephiroth
http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/finalfantasy/images/4/46/Sephiroth_Dissidia_Artwork.png
The Captain

http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/2486/sephiroth.png

EDIT: (SPOILER* I knew something was wrong when he wasn't freaking out about Kathool...he's a villain!!!
And on the quest Nightmare, they make a reference to Pae the Gecko, from AQ. Remember her? She eats you.
Oh, his name's Captain Hugo. am I pushing it when I say Sephiroth's father's name was Hojo?

One last thing (God, I go overboard on this thread/. A few pages back I tried connecting Selpulcher as a Nightmare parody or something like that. If you think about it, Sepulcher's kinda like Darth Vader. 1. Used to be a hero, lost someone he loved, wanted power to get it back, now wears cool armor, yaddayaddayadda.
Alright, I'm done.

I lied. When Artix is defeated as a friend in DF, he is dragged under the ground by undead. Does anyone notice where the skeleton's arm grabs Artix? That might be a Braindead reference, where a guy is grabbed in the crotch by an undead hand reaching up through the ground. I only know this because of the music video for Clint Eastwood by Gorrillaz. Check it out sometime.

boooman -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (6/10/2010 19:53:00)

A lot in DF.

1. Dragons = Eragon
2. Ninja "Itchy Itchy Paradise" = Naruto, the book Kakashi Sensei would always read is very similar.
3. Zhoom/Ranger = The Ranger's Apprentice
4. Does the orbs remind anybody of anything? (I'm gonna let you guys guess on this one!)

Genoclysm -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (6/10/2010 20:05:39)

Considering there is nothing new under the sun (and that you seem to attribute dragon riding to something as recent as Eragon when it is far, far older) makes it nearly impossible to guess what you might think the orbs parody or reference. Unless you mean DragonBall, but the Orbs don't grant wishes as far as I can tell.

boooman -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (6/10/2010 21:57:28)

@Genoclysm Nope not DBZ. Also, it's not just Eragon because of the dragons, there was magic, a "cursed blade," and don't forget dwarfs (the Varden).

Genoclysm -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (6/10/2010 22:37:33)

...you just described a rather large amount of fantasy stories.

sleddyboy3 -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (6/10/2010 22:43:47)

Ok, not sure if this is not in the right section but whatever.

I've known these for a while though.

AQ MasterCraft sets

Reign Sets- Has to do with royalness.

Shadow sets- Well, you know that one.

Golden- You also know.

Asguardian- Just random names

Nemesis- Nemesis is enemy, Deimos and Phobos are both moons.

Kindred- Brotherhood

Fujin- Having to do with wind

blindfury01 -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (6/14/2010 20:14:59)

They do indeed parody DragonBall though at least at the end of the Devourer Saga when they are sent to the nine winds.-

Karzahni -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (6/16/2010 1:14:41)

G'joob, the Tusker, is named after the chorus from I am the Walrus by The Beatles: "Goo goo g'joob".

By the way, Eragon wasn't written till after Dragonfable came out.

general greivous -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (6/16/2010 14:11:01)

I think Eragon came out in 2004 and DF in 2005, but I might be wrong.

But yeah, Eragon did not invent Dragon Riding. There is hardly even any more riding to invent, all the cool rides are already taken.

SkankyMuppet -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (6/17/2010 18:09:00)

Searched and could not find another reference to it which is surprising but BURP (Big Ugly Rat Pest) is a reference to ROUS (Rodent of Unusual Size) from Princess Bride if I'm not mistaken...

DeathStrik3 -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (6/18/2010 9:49:08)

hashashin(or something) armor, the suggested armor from AQworld is somelike Assasin's Creed suit, specially when you wear a hood!!!
Still, it is a suggested armor...
The color, the small nearly hidden daggers, the looks, completely Assasin's Creed Copy(no offense to the creator of the suit)... but cool enough!!!

ArchMagus Orodalf -> RE: =AE= Spotted a Parody or Spoof in our Games Post it Here (6/27/2010 20:46:26)

Inspector Doyle - Sherlock Holmes; based off of the author, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Captain Lestrad - Based off of one of the police characters (named Lestrad) in Sherlock Holmes constantly harassing Holmes
