Hmmm the onely thing that doesn't look too good is the rectangled clipping mask. You might have done that part wrong.
Looks monotone too

Well, I tried transcripting (unsuccessfully) most of this tutorial into GIMP. Being a newbie at GIMP (this being my first sig ever made with GIMP), I'm not too thrilled with it, but it's not too bad either: just not my usual style.

It's not much better, but I don't claim to be anything but a novice in these things. Since I use an old version of Photoshop, I had trouble finding some of the things you talked about in your tutorial so I compensated by digressing from the tutorial every now and then, but the outline of the tutorial should be apparent.

Edit: Ok I found some, but I have been wanting to make a white backgrounded tag for a while, would it be ok if I used white instead of black?

edit: actually i got lost past the entire smudging part, i cant get it to smudge with the tool lol it just messes up picture and smears it

i dont know what went wrong lol, the smudge tool is just bad for me

anyways, here is my result...

though... its a poor result of the tut... i stopped following past the pasting render on top of 3 c4d lol then made up my own thing since i dont know what apply image or smudging is lol

Apply image is: Make a new layer then go to image> apply image and the whole sig gets pasted on that layer

Lol I only followed the tut to the middle then just added some grads. and photo filters and walah...Its sucks though-I didn't ise a anime render...
