Prolouge: Death Samuel opened his eyes, regaining his vision. At least he thought he was, for everything was black. He seemed to be laying on ground, though all he could see was black. The black was underneath him; he would put his head into the air and there was only black. Darkness. It was maddening. "Your are not supposed to be awake yet, my young friend," A dark and chilling voice said above him. The same voice muttered something, and Samuel desended into unconscious. Samuel eyes opened again. This time, he was surronded by a dying light, one being consumed every second by the oncoming darkness. He stood up, rubbing his face with his hand. He turned, and floating above him was Death. Hooded, wrapped in a black cloak, carrying his scythe, the skeletal head stared down at him. Samuel jumped, surprised at the sight. "Whe-where am I?" He stuttered. "You are dead," the skeleton said with a smile. "Dead as can be." "I'm.....dead?" Samuel said, still not grasping the consept. The skeleton laughed a bone chilling laugh, like finger nails being scraped across a chalkboard. "Yes, but not for long. Tell me boy, how did you die? I like to know these things about my Hunters." "Hunters?" Samuel asked, confused by the term. He had heard of hunters that killed monsters for their pelts and such, though this was most likely not whom he was referring. "All will come in time boy. But how did you die?" Death asked. Samuel hadn't thought about it himself. He thought back to those few moments. He was about to cross swords with a bandit, when there was a pain in his chest. Everything was fuzzy from then on, but he could remember some sort of wooden shaft. A spear or arrow? He wasn't sure. "I remember a arrow or spear portruding from my chest. I don't remember anything from then on," he said, trying not to remember the screams of his freinds. "Ah. A unexpected death. I have plans for your soul, young one. Very important plans." Death said. His scythe twirled once and a spirit appeared. A young girls spirit appeared. She looked to be around Samuel's age, with brown hair. There were few streaks of red running through her straight hair. Her eyes were closed, and she had very pale skin, perhaps this was from being dead. Death spoke again. "You will be resurrected. I will contact you with what I wish, when I wish it. You are now my hunter. She is your bond. Power will come with time, and if you give me enugh souls, you will be free. Go now, into the light. Hunt, and kill." With that, the girl was gone, Samuel was gone, and the black was that of unconsciousness.
