Thousands of tons of bone crushed into yet more bone as the lifeless skeletal giant crushed through the front lines of the undead forces. Loud shouts of heroes and guardians were just barely enough to sound out over the crushing, crackling noises. A bone from the beasts leg fell and pierced through the banner of Doom, sending shreds of it floating in the wind. The guardian's bannerboy sprinted over the gigantic body to the top of the hill, tripping over mangled entropic armor and bones, and shoved the tattered flag into the ground. The clean gold colors of the Guardian banner could be seen as the dust and smoke cleared. Even so, with this brief victory, thousands more undead flooded the valley below. The warmongers were the first to recover from the climbing assault and rushed to the top of the hill. Then, suddenly, and frightfully, Captain Hawkeye's voice reached the ears of every hero on the field. Cloud's neck whirled around. From atop Rex, he had a clear view of what happened. Sepulchure's flying fortress crashed into the Guardian Tower. ----------------------------------------------- May 22nd, 10 hours after the heroes' ground confrontation with Sepulchure Cloud trudged out from under the comfort of Rex's right wing back to the camp. Captain Hawkeye had woken him up to tell him that he had been picked for the midnight raid team. He groaned and rolled around before finally getting to his senses. Atleast he would be able to meet some new people. The raid team was usually filled with people that were able to endure long hours of slaying and endless waves; Cloud was not one of those people. His team consisted of ten people - himself, Raven, the lady warmonger who had saved him from the giant; L and D, twin brothers; Boomer, a pirate from Rhubarb's crew in Opsrey Cove; Blackmoon, a mute rogue; Arlington, a powerful soulweaver; and Oddball, a Warrior whom Cloud had seen much of in the Ravenloss War. All of the powerhouses looked relatively ready to fight, except for Boomer, who kept taking sips of grog to whet his thirst, and of course Cloud, who lazily strapped on his mana gauntlet to his wrist and Celtic Rainbow to his back. "You all need to wake up, the night is young. The undead wait for nobody," warned L, the paladin brother. "Nawww, bruth, we can take a while to sit back, relax - " the Deathknight's banter was cut short by Raven. "None of that! L is right, you all need to hasten up." "Roight, mate, I'm ready." answered Boomer readily. The young pirate looked more like a human gatlinggun than anything, with a brace of atleast 20 pistols strapped across his chest and 5 more at his waist. On top of that, he was equipped with a pirate's cutlass. Cloud stood up, his mana gauntlet tightly locked onto his wrist and his various daggers and blades. "I'm ready, too." Without any warning, Blackmoon charged out of the camp at lightning speeds. The others paced to a sprint to keep up. All of the horses were either resting or sleeping, so all of the heroes had to fight on foot. Cloud had gone through five pairs of boots during the daytime due to the heavy mud, and thought he'd go through thrice that during this raid. The team reached the hill, and examining the valley, saw a group of guardians at the frontlines struggling to hold back a wave of Bone Fires. "Well, my chaps, let's not just stand our feet here plainly, let's go help those chaps!" Arlington exclaimed, leaping off of the hill into the frontline trench. Raven followed, and the others aswell. Cloud walked up to Captain Hawkeye in the trench, whose face and armor were caked with mud and scratches. "Captain, we'll take over from here." "Thank the maker! Company B, back to camp! BACK TO CAMP!" Cloud didn't want to tell Hawkeye that. He squinted as five Bonefires shot a wave of twenty fireballs at the team; the only source of light on the gloomy battlefield. Boomer and Arlington climbed out of the trench and charged; Boomer covering Arlington's assault with pistolfire as Arlington's spiritlooms glowed bright white, sending a wave of pure energy at the fire-throwers. It wiped them out. Cloud, Oddball, Raven and L and D and Blackmoon leaped out of the trench into a crowd of skeletons, the warriors beheading two or three as they landed feetfirst. "ATTACK!" yelled Raven, clearing out ten skeletons with a single 360 spin of her scythe. Boomer hid away his used pistols and grabbed a bottle of grog, taking a drink from it. It dropped onto the ground as Arlington whizzed past to help the other heroes. "OI, LOOK WHAT YE DONE NOW, YE BLUNDERIN' - " Boomer's banter was cut short by an order from Cloud. He pulled out his cutlass and joined the fray. Metal and bone bits flew everywhere, clanking and clinking off of the heroes' armor. Blackmoon took on five enemies silently by himself, while Cloud and Oddball dueled an entropic soldier together. Boomer and L and D were covering the fighters with pistolfire and light and darkness shards, which barely kept the charging undead from getting any closer. Arlington cleared out a single wave of 20 by raining down white light from the sky. It was all going just splendid. Somewhere, up in the sky, above the sponge-dropping dragons, above Sepulchure and Fluffy himself, someone - or something - watched the fight from afar, glowing red eyes displaying every ounce of interest possible in the bloodshed. "Finally, the fool has done something right for a change. But.. he.. even like the heroes themselves.. will .. FALL!!! BAAAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
