Now in Warlic's shop: Purple Rain. Kam says:

Neutral quick-cast spell, does no damage, and can only be successfully used once per battle, but does an effect similar to Father Time. When first cast in a battle, it costs 0 SP and records the HP/MP/SP of both the player and monster. The second time it is cast, the player pays the listed SP (10% skill cost) and the monster makes a 50% save (stats?), if it fails, then the player/monster HP/MP/SP are reverted to the recorded numbers, and the spell can't be used any more during that battle. You can keep casting to attempt it as long as you have SP.

[Save is CHA/LUK vs CHA/LUK, +0 bonus.]

New Token package item: Arctic Tornado. Kam says:

Wind/Ice seeking spells. Works like Destruction Burst, dealing +50% damage (or +100% Melee), but cost HP equal to 5% of what an MPLv player's max HP would be before END. Has *2.2 gold cost due to compression and MC, but that's halved to *1.1 due to being a package item.

Bit late to bring thsi up but... Dracomorgrify and friends needs to be completed with info on which monsters are immune to it. There's an unlisted popup ("Your foe's firm form refuses your fiddling!") that I can only take as indicating immunity...

Does Arctic Tornado work with things that change resistance like petrify?
Or is it the same like Destruction Burst and frozen/petrified conditions are not included when checking for the most damaging element?

Unfortunately no, it doesn't work with frozen/petrify.

I recently ran into this issue trying experimental robocockatrice + arctic tornado and destruction burst + diamond flutterby. ALX said that it's something that will be fixed when time allows so maybe with the increase in interest in these combos/items that would use them we can poke IMR and see if it's in the works...?

Edit: I hope this doesn't break the no discussion rule since it's directly about how an item functions; if it does feel free to remove it!

Nerf to Purple Rain, so that the Lv10 version isn't always the best option. Calculate a "modifier" the same way that Lepre-Chan does:
    quote:

Lepre-Chan slowly grows more powerful for low-level players and less powerful as you level up.
    • BUFFER = 20
    • If your level is between [PowLvl] and [PowLvl+20], then there's no adjustment.
    • Otherwise:
      • If PowLvl > PlayerLvl, then AdjustedLvl = PlayerLvl
      • If PowLvl < PlayerLvl, then AdjustedLvl = PlayerLvl - BUFFER
      • The boost is multiplied by (5.25 + 0.5625*PowLvl + 0.00375*PowLvl^2)/(5.25 + 0.5625*AdjustedLvl + 0.00375*AdjustedLvl^2)
(So if you have a version that's somehow PowLvl 100, then everything's the same while you're Lv100 to Lv120. If you're Lv99 or lower and somehow get it, then the boost is increased. If you're Lv121 or higher, then the boost is decreased.)
(Yes, this means that the PowLvl 153 version will always provide a slightly-higher-than-normal boost, 'cause you can only reach Lv150 and 150<153. This is intended.)
If the modifier is <1, then there's a (1-modifier) chance of the spell instantly failing*. If the multiplier is >1, then there's a (modifier-1) chance of the spell instantly suceeding and ignoring the save.

*It's time we all reach out for something new, that means buying a higher-levelled version of this spell.

Neutral spell. Comes with 3 "attacks":
    1) Summon Mana Spirit. Doesn't cost any MP. Doesn't take a turn.

    2) Dissipate Mana. One hit, Harm, damages MP. Costs the listed MP. Instead of the usual spell damage formula, it deals 0.72 * (1 + INT*/[Expected INT]) * [Spell MP cost] MP damage on average; it does [that]*0.75 Base and [that]*0.5 Rand damage. Stat damage is set to 0, 'cause we already included your INT in the calculation for Base/Rand damage. It uses the listed BTH.

*10% chance of using INT + LUK*3/2. Lucky Strikes are lucky. This is not affected by normal things that affect LSs, 'cause I had to hard-code it in.

    3) Shape Mana. One hit, Harm, damages HP. Costs the listed MP plus the listed HP (as a penalty for doing Harm).

    4) A "Leave" button, in case you cast it with too little MP. This doesn't take a turn, and doesn't cost any MP.

Any damage penalty to the Harm damage, or is the HP cost itself enough to cover 100% spell damage converted to Harm?

Dissipate Mana takes a 90% damage penalty (already factored in).

Shape Mana takes no penalty. It has an HP cost instead. ~IMR

Dissipate Mana's Rand should be .25 because B+R should be = 1. What the guy below you said. ~IMR
Also why does the .72 spell begin with .8 which is the penalty for Elemental seeking when *.9 for Harm is already applied.
If using a mpcost formula 653 mana only removes 125% melee, that is if monster fallback standards are 75% melee like players, which means .9*mpcost*200/125 should be the correct formula.

    200/125 simplifies to 1.6.

If you use the spell at expected INT, then it simplifies to:
    0.9 * 0.8 * (1 + [Expected INT]/[Expected INT]) * [Spell MP cost]
    = 0.9 * 0.8 * (2) * [Spell MP cost]
    = 0.9 * 1.6 * [Spell MP cost]

So yep, exactly what you said! Yay, mathz! ~IMR

    B + R/2 = 1 actually, since you're expected to do half the random damage on average. Here, 0.75 + 0.5/2 = 1.
