ok well this is more of a post to the people at the begining o the thread that said "how do we know our ID if we cant make an account?"


well i think that only the people who are playing are going to be able to do these puzzles and that is kind of obvious

Also it is presumed to have something to do with Caesar ciphers from references from both Fal and Eldron. Trimethius perhaps. But we are stuck beyond that.

hm... its an old thing so mabye its the first puzzle people? or any one that used letters for that matter

the Caesar cipher thing doesnt make sense, I have run the codes [whatever you would like to call them(even tacos!)] through pretty much every combination and still no luck for a
sensible answer.


edit: hrmm, im going to try a series of vignere decryptions...

I think that we need to go back to the idea of multiple Caesar shifts. The fact that Fal repeated his sentence about repetition in his last clue makes me ponder the thought of needing to go to the Caesar shift twice: one decription will not give a clear answer, but applying the same shift to that result, maybe something will come true.

That being said, I have too much work to do these days to be of real help...

Doing in indepth guess....that means its probably wrong :P
It could be like a cube.
Z= depth
Y= Height
X=Width
And Fal even mentioned an even square.
As for the spits poison and kills all I can think of is a snake, though it must be a cipher harder based on this one that he is referring to.


EDIT: Or maybe even two square: Two-Square Cipher

Going off of the "greater cousin that spits poison and kills" clue:

Bifid cipher, which is related to a
Trifid cipher, and "Trifid" looks an awful lot like
Triffid, a fictional plant that can spit a stinger coated with a fatal poison.

EDIT: Going futher, the Bifid cipher also fits with the "even square" bit: it uses a 5x5 grid, which requires the removal of one letter to remain a square. If J is the letter in question and the alphabet is, as speculated above, backwards, that gives us the grid

Further edit: The Wikipedia article claims that longer messages, which this one would certainly qualify as, are split into equal groups called periods that are encrypted seperately. The problem here is that the letter count comes to 661, a prime number. However, using this handy prime factor generator and some multiplication I was able to determine that 660 has the following factors:

1 660
2 330
3 220
4 165
5 132
6 110
10 66
11 60
12 55
15 44
20 33
22 30

The simplest solution would be to make periods of one of the lengths above and add the extra character to one, however finding the period length and the appropriate section for the spare could take a while.

As for the previous puzzle we're going about a Trithemius Cipher with great results

replacing 0 for N on the puzzle and skipping W on the key itself

We get OKKX EJK EPSEJ UM EJK ODFPKIEQMJ EM WLETZJZPH
or SEEK THE TRUTH IN THE ---------- ON ---------
There's probably another anomoly in the 10 letter word.

The new puzzle could be using the playfair cipher.
Falerin mentioned that the tableu replaces all J's with I's. If you look at the wikipedia article a form of playfair usualy puts J's and I's in the same place.
