Finally! This tut shows you how to get a photoshop like smudge effetc.

Heheh. Nice.
I always used an old method my friend Art told me. Of course, way back then, I was even new to gimp. Naturally, I couldn't do it correctly.

Thanks for posting this, I'm sure it'll help out a lot of people.

I have no clue what half of those things are, can you help me?

Everythings after, "set that layer to 96%", makes absolutely no sense to me.

I think it means set the layer opacity to 96%
