Since I've have been seeing a lot of new sig shop owners, I've also seen some confusions regarding the rules. Advertising: You are not allowed to mass PM people or post in threads (Gallery or non-Gallery) advertising your shop. If you want to get your shop known out there to the rest of the forums, place a link to your thread in you sig area under Profile. Once you have done that, visit other areas of the forums, OOC, GGD, ect. Most people here in the Gallery make their own sigs, so most of your customers won't be from here. Support: I've been seeing a lot of posts of shops supporting other shops. Example: The AE Sig Shop supports you. These post serve no purpose and are spam. In case you forgot, the Gallery is not the Clan area. We do not have wars, alliances, or whatever clans like to do. Think of Art Shops like shops in a mall, we are all parts of an larger area, we support each other and we don't have to advertise that we do. If you want to include a link to your friend's shop in your first post, you can. But posts saying "so and so" supports you is spam. In Short: All posts in shops should be limited to Requests, Handing out completed requests, and advice on how to better someones ahop or art. Advertising and support post do not do that, and if your shop is found advertising or posting spam it will be closed. If you are still unclear what spam is, the Universal Rules does a good jop of explaining it. quote:
# 5) No spamming. Unsolicited promotion of other web sites, or products, is spam. The occasional post about a game, (we all love games) allowed only in The OOC Room, but no advertising your uncle's Avon catalog site, etc. Please keep our forums free of unsolicited advertisement or product promotion. Posting referral/recruitment/trick links is strictly prohibited. Do not create threads on a topic that is already being discussed. Make sure to read all forum and sub-forum descriptions and their rules before posting new threads to ensure that you follow the rules and post in the correct place. Spam also includes (this does not mean "limited to" - if a mod determines that something is spam, it is spam): # questions about "When will _____ happen?" "When is _____ coming out?" "What is going to happen next !?" "Is [item] going to [be nerfed/buffed/rise in value]?" "Why isn't _____ in the game?". Staff will let you know either in-game or on the forums. Otherwise, wait and find out. # any posts that serve no purpose and/or fail to contribute to the overall productiveness of a thread (includes off topic posts), # posts bumping/reviving threads (Unless sub-forum rules explicitly state that you are allowed to do so, bumping will be considered spam.), # double/multiple posting (Unless sub-forum rules explicitly state that you are allowed to do so, multiple posting will be considered spam.), To further clarify, this means that no one has posted after your earlier post. If this is the case, use the Edit button. # posting in all caps and/or other pointless formatting, # excessive use of smileys (maximum three per post), # extra lines of space (only makes the post longer, wasted space) # use of unapproved/official tags in thread topics (can't use =Pae= ( personal ) , =AE= ( official ) , =AQ= ( official ) , =DF= ( official ) , =MQ= ( official ) , =AK= ( ArchKnight ) , =KoO= ( Knight of Order ) or =SoO= ( Squire of Order ) ; can use =SB= in Sig and Avy for sig battles) # threads targeted at one person/a few people (use PM, e-mail, or IM instead - If no information is provided, nothing can be done.) # general conversation (posts that serve little purpose on the boards, content that is better off in private ("How are you doing?", "I'm fine.", etc.), same as the above) # and excessive quoting - quoting the post immediately above you (unless you are relevantly breaking down a post several lines long), quoting a quote, and quote pyramids).
