Close to never. I've been busy with real life and the likes.

I still tag here and there, I just don't ever feel they're good enough to really show them to anyone else.
So I just keep them to myself.

I update every time I have a new piece of artwork. This can vary between a few days to a few weeks. Not normally longer than that.

I can post a new topic now can't I?
How do you normally start a piece of art?
I use a black and white gradient and then start rendering stuff, putting stuff on top, text etc. (It's in PDN what I'm talking about )

I get an idea in my head. Sketch it out on some paper. Choose my medium. Then work from there. :D

For Pivot - Put a stick in the middle of the page, then going outside to relax and think about a storyline for the animation, come back and HELL UNLEASHED!!!
For Others - White page xD

moi? depends on what i am doing, but lets take armors:
1) Think of an armor name that would be worthwhile and hasn't been designed by AE yet.(viking, Chaoslord, etc..)
2) Draw some concept art to get a feel for what the armor would look like.
3) Draw the final pencil sketch.
4) Scan.
5) Put a pic of the scan in flash, and trace over it, fixing any errors in proportion, etc, along the way.
6) Color.
7) Shade.
And voila. You have an *allegedly* good quality armor. :P

1. Inspiration/idea
2. Sketching on paper,
3. Scanning,
4. Opening Photoshop/Flash,
5. Drawing/vectorizing on top layer, sketch on layer below,
6. Base colors,
7. I don't like previous base colors, trying another base colors :p
8. Shading
9. Finishing the piece

Your topic was "How do you normally start a piece of art?", so you can just look on the first 2 :D

I hardly ever start the same way each time. I feel it causes me to have a serious block in inspiration and creativity. I'll often fiddle around with sizes until I find something that seems appropriate and go from there.

I usually start after coming up with a good idea. Most of the time I don't use the idea right away, but put it on a list of things I should do. Once I do decide what to do though, I start with a basic sketch, then move on to details/colours/etc. It really depends on what kind of art I am doing though.

Over 24 hours, so...:P
As an artist, are there any elements of the type of art you do that you feel you are not stable on? You know, your Achilles Heel as an artist? Do you try to solve these problems, or inventively find ways to avoid them?
