okay I traced back on the topic that we are discussing and....
@ igna
Yea I know nooby artist who's work that aren't good are annoying, and sometimes sucky. but I can't agree all the way.
When I tried to apply to be an approved artist my works suck to the max! I have been asking for tips on how to do this and that to people who's works are soo beautiful! with out their help my art works might never have improved.
Pretty much it's because of their patience and answering all my annoying nooby question is what helped me improve!
and also the CnC of the other artistes here mainly you for being able to find all my mistakes

Edit: wow igna you topic commanded a lot of people's attention

I'm definitely in the creative-block zone right about now. Though I've been awfully busy with school or music, possibly the upcoming break could give me some time to jump back in.

Hopefully that is.

I usually don't have a problem with lack of creativity, especially when it comes to starting a piece. I just get stuck on long projects real easy. When that happens, I give up and try something new. I just don't have the patience. D:

I wanna talk about something but pls take this seriously....
When ever a forum member leaves why does everything seems sooo sad all of a sudden?
especially if that person is your friend?
Why does it feel like nothing will ever be the same anymore?
why is saying goodbye so hard?

I'd like to tackle both if I may. For me when I get hit in the face with the creative block I take the opportunity to wokr on studies which bore me to death mostly. I'm talking about anatomy studies, form, function, and shape. Also I try to sketch out technical studies as well since archetechture and backgrounds aren't my strong point. Working on these often helps in two ways; I get to keep drawing which keeps me in practice and I develope better skills with the subject matter. I also throw on some music that I find inspiring. For me it's usually Tool, John Lennon, Billie Holiday, or the Doors to name a few.

People in our lives effect us, even if it's an infintesimal amount. People we like and care about us effect us more and we take their presence for granted most of the time. I think when someone leaves or moves on it's sad because we'll miss them. But we also miss that good feeling we had when they were in our lives. It leaves an empty, hollow place in it's wake and reminds us of the ephemeral nature of all relationships, of life itself.

That's all I have to say about that....and now for a random Semicolon ---> ;

For Illusion's, I'd say cause when that person is your friend, you can't really see them anymore. If they really don't come back, it's like they die to you cause you don't know them IRL. If they do come back, it's like they are resurrected.

We're all artists here, we have creativity, but another thing I learned. Creativity comes with depression, most artists I know have or do have depression. Most great artists also had depression, not just modern day artists.

Ts1's-Sometimes if I get a lack of creativity I'll look up from what I'm doing. Like if I'm making a pencil sketch in my book (Which I usually am) and I can't decide what to draw, then I'll look in front of me and draw that. Like once I was drawing in my book and I looked up. I saw my cat sitting in my room. So I drew a picture of a kitten sleeping on a pillow. It's kind of weird, but that happens.

Illusion's-I do kind of understand. I have a friend on the forums named Mad Man, who I met making DragonFable suggestions. I always liked coming up with DragonFable things that would be great. Infact back then I made two town and two house suggestions. Anyway we were like great friends. We talked and discussed alot through PMs. And we always saw each other's threads first. Well soon after he didn't show up for a while, he left, I realized it. I was kind of disappointed because I didn't even know him in real life. I've only seen him from a PM once after that. This was all before I got into Digital arts, however.

I agree... Lots of people leave and return constantly. My staggering time here in AEF'll drift away some day also just like yours and Ts1's and ShyTrake's and Mo's and blah blah blah.

People get sick of this place but they usually come back someday out of nostalgia.

When I'm bored I sit down and make some edits, or maybe sketch something... but if I'm suffering from a major editor's/painters block I climb up to sit on our roof to read or write.
Or maybe take a walk, anything that gives inspiration really ^_^
... or just hang out with friends, IRL or AQW, depends on mood and day and time and stuff xD

what sources of inspiration do you have from popular culture. This includes movies, Tv shows, people, advertisements, ect.
this will not include music since we've talked about that before :P

for me personally...
the cartoons 'the misadventures of flapjack' and 'courage the cowardly dog'
along with the movies, which i recently rediscovered, 'yellow submarine' and 'fear and loathing in las vegas'
those four mainly for the character styles
nothing like them anywhere else
also throw in the random movie or commercial
some products these days have amazing campaigns going on
and i always enjoy some expertly done graffiti on the side of a building or a train
train graffiti is such a treat

i guess graphic novels don't count as popular culture, really, so i can't list those. :P As to movies, etc, i would have to say stuff like "Iron giant" and "Toy story" were very influential for a lot of stuff. On Tv shows, i would probably say say star trek. :)

Graffiti is inspiring for me, so is some of the pro art you find. I usually like listening to music to give me an inspiration as well
