I wasn't too sure on your first question whether you were asking what was better - the actual artist or the sculpture itself. If you meant sculpture, I don't even agree that modern artists' works are better than that of the ancients :S. There was a certain period of history where everything was stolen among countries, works of art especially. Music, towers, pillars and columns, statues, songs, mosaics, paintings, sculptures, monuments ... [and by that I also mean ideas] I think they (stolen art) belong where they are now. Yes of course, it does belong to another country, but it's not like a war is going to start just because several thousand years ago we stole this from them, or they stole this from that country. I think history is history, and works of art from a scattered variety of several countries that are not from it's originated country are already there, and I think that makes the art so special is that Greek sculptures aren't just in Greece and that Mesopotamian momuments are all over European countries. And all of what I'm saying may not even be correct... I could just be jumbling all my facts together -_-. By all means if they want it back, it would be morally wrong to say "no, we stole them from you, you can't have it back", but I think it's a part of the country now even though originally it never belonged to them. And most countries probably do take care of those things better than the origin country would (an assumption of course). And obviously since those things are thousands of years old, I'm sure by now the only reason people want to see them is their historical significance and how old they are, not just because they were stolen from some other country. As long as they're seen by the public eye and put into good use and not just sitting there, I think it belongs where it is. Plus it would be quite a hassle to hoard all these ancient things back to the original country, reasons being some are just massive, others incredibly fragile. ---- Edit: Lol I don't even know if Althorne's question was even a new topic, possibly just rhetorical xP, and that we were still going with the topic on the previous page. If that's the case, then ignore what I wrote and move on lol.
