All things are for a purpose and all things interconnect. That you would accuse the god of good of not playing fair is somewhat ludicrous. Because I know that the Network is somehow involved in this I sent a question an inquiry to Diviara on Deren as he is perhaps the closest to an expert I could ask other than Cartwright and I am not ready for that confrontation at the moment. Diviara was unusually cryptic in his response. He told me that inquisitors of the previous puzzle were key here. He also noted that where Eldron was a traditionalist when it came to such things, he himself voted for Kennedy. This last bit is patent nonsense of course, Diviara could not have been on terra at that time. But he said it so it means something.

So we have to get into politics here? I can understand the traditionalist vs. Kennedy thing, because Kennedy was a Democrat...

EDIT: And I'm presuming the capital letters matter here, because they're in there. We'd better make note of that.

Autokey cipher anyone?

FALERIN or ELDRON as the key maybe?

I'm actually thinking its not this now after looking it over :/

so next im gonna count how many of each letter appear. see if that helps.

well im gonna assume this is the amount of each letter we have to work with. but idk so... happy hunting! ill come in at the end.

A google search on of the message brought up this site as the second result.

Probably not related though...And even if it was, I wouldn't be able to figure it out myself...But still, figured I'd throw it out there just in case. :P

There are pairs of letters there, and two names to take into account.
Maybe ELDRON is the key to the first letter in a pair and FALERIN to the second. Or vice versa.
Yet the way of encrypting should be different for both of them.

Hey Kuld I'll start amusing myself by substituting letters into that code Thanks for the link. :)

Hmm.... number pairs. Anything to do with Kennedy? Or maybe the capital letters mean something.

Well, it's *probably* not the Progressive Party. We worked out that much on IRC.

I'm going to guess that, because of what was said, we might have to try something completely new.
Trying to decode the message by treating it as a keyword cipher and using "Eldron" or "Falerin" as keywords hasn't brought anything up. This may be another monoalphabetical code, but I'm not really all that sure. As long as the staff hasn't encoded this using the Great Cipher, though, we'll solve it.

I'm pretty sure that if it is a keyword cipher the key will be Falerin and/or Eldron because of this

quote:

He told me that inquisitors of the previous puzzle were key here

Umm... Uh.. I'll just repeat what I said on IRC:

quote:

[15:47] <Miles> Because I couldn't think of anything else to do, I split the groups into two. The first sequence is of each of the first letters in the dual-letter groups, and the second sequence are each of the second letters in the dual-letter groups.
[15:48] <Miles> "G d l o d u e d f n y s c i o a l t N f n p t g d u x r q v i l d s o f q r g t k q o p f u i i l e d l n d i a k b k c r g y e t r c e a b u i c i d u p g l o d"
[15:48] <Miles> "b d o t l d n K l c a k d K e C i q e r c n p g p t s n f l l o b k c a r P f t f h e q t d f y i n l h y p d k s a a u a n k b u u d o k a d s d b t t m x n l Y"

What I think we should do is to, first, figure out exactly what Falerin means.

"He told me that inquisitors of the previous puzzle were key here." - Inquisitor means 'one who inquires or makes an inquisition, especially a questioner who is excessively rigorous or harsh." Who were the past inquisitors that we can recall?
  • Falerin -questioning the encrypted messages, and coming to us for help.
  • Eldron -questioning the encrypted messages, and coming to us for help [just like Falerin].Well, yeah... These are the only ones who even questioned anything so far.

So are we pretty much sure, then, that Falerin and Eldron are keys?

Wait... is it possible that this could've been enciphered through a Vigenère cipher? One of the names could still be the key to decoding the message if so. I know I've suggested it before, but if the names are the key and the message's cipher isn't a simple keyword, then it could still possibly work.

I ran the message through the Playfair cipher - a cipher apparently used by JFK at some point - using Eldron and Falerin as the keyword...I can see several words in there, but I dunno...*shruggety shrug*

Edit:
Only Eldron:

Wow Kuld I can see plenty of words in that, i'm guessing you got the idea from this
quote:

That you would accuse the god of good of not playing fair is somewhat ludicrous.

OK another idea Maybe its a mix of keyword & play fair

Maybe we should try both of these with either Falerin or Eldron as keywords.
Just a thought.

*facepalms* How did I forget the Playfair Cipher? Am I really so caught up with Vigenère ciphers that nothing else occurs to me?
Good thinking, Kuld. You've very likely brought us much closer to solving the puzzle.

I see the words "Rules over iron" and "Give are" in the text with Eldron as the keyword. Hints, or sheer coincidence?

I'm not sure to understand what you mean when you say that Falerin and Eldron are keys. What i don't understand is how to use that key.

I'm pretty lost with this one, honestly

Never mind, I just red on the Playfair crypher and now I understand

Ok Great work Kuld, there is no J in the cipher which probably means it is a Playfair cipher.

Madder rules over Haden with her Iron Grasp Evidence suggests she is a wearer of the mantle That this group is so far traveled gives fright in g implications to the origins of the first such wearer X

I GOT IT!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! FINALLY! I GOT ONE!

I used the playfair cipher and used ELDRON AND FALERIN as the key. Although I'm not sure about the "g implications" or the "x" parts.

I'm so proud of myself. Although I couldn't of done it without all you guys' helpful research.
