@Doringo:Correct on the second, wrong on the first.

Another riddle:
Thirty white horses on a red hill,
First they champ,
Then they stamp,
Then they stand still. (Even readers of The Hobbit will have a hard time.)

...Yes. Did you look up the answer? Because the only answer the book gave was "Chestnuts! But we only has six.."

Another riddle:
Mice can reproduce very fast. An adult female can make one baby mouse every 6 months, and a baby mouse, after 3 months, can reproduce too. You take a baby mouse hom with you one day. How many mice will you have in 10 months?

The Extinguisher

There are three identical looking umbrellas in an umbrella stand. The umbrellas belong to three women. Assuming that none of them look at the label, what is the percentage that two out of the three women will walk off with their umbrella. You don't need a calculator for this....

So if two of them get their umbrella, they all do.

Okay, this is easy.

There's six possible umbrella permutations to choose (3 P 3) and of those, only one of these leads to all of them grabbing their own umbrella (1, 2, 3). Which means the answer is 1/6 or roughly 16.7%

Go maths.

This is all assuming they grab them at the same time, because else it gets all sorts of weird.

That is wrong. I'll reveal the answer when people start yelling at me or someone gets it right.

Except it's not. That is math. Math is never wrong. This may be one of those stupid "hurr hurr bad wording" riddles, but math says that the answer is 1/6.

Also, you're supposed to post the answer in a spoiler in the first post anyway.

Here's a couple more Logic Puzzles I had posted before, but might as well post again. Most of them come from xkcd forums, so I do not take credit for making these riddles.

Note: These are LOGIC Puzzles. There is no stupid answer or me trying to be clever with wording or how I phrase something. There's nothing really smug about these puzzles and just require brute force logical thinking and rationale. Don't think outside the box in these questions.

Three Princesses (A Labyrinth Puzzle variation)
From: xkcd
As a bachelor for the royal court, you must choose between three princesses to marry. The three princesses vary from age. The eldest princess only is able to tell the truth, the youngest princess is only able to tell lies, and the middle sister is mischievous and mentally flips a coin to determine if she lies or tells the truth. The king summons you to his humble palace, and you are greeted with the three princesses standing side by side, unable to physically determine which princess belongs in which age group. Now, the king demands that you make a choice now, but allows you to ask ONE princess ONE question. You want to marry either the eldest or the youngest princess, so that at least you can know where you stand with them.

What one question do you ask in order to avoid marrying the middle princess?

Ask princess A: "Is princess B older than princess C?"

I'll only give you the answer, figure out the logic yourself. It only spoils the fun >:D

Russian Roulette
From: xkcd
You are abducted by the mafia and physically restrained of all movement, sitting on a chair. The mafia boss comes in and decides to toy with your life with a game of russian roulette. He shows you the gun and places two bullets in adjacent positions. He spins the barrel of the gun until it physically stops, then locks and loads the gun. He places the gun on your scalp, and fires. *click* It's an empty chamber. Then he says "I'll set you free if you live through this next shot because lady luck has a thing for you. The only question is, would you like me to fire right now or spin the barrel again before I fire the next shot?"

Which choice guarantees the greatest success of seeing through the ordeal alive?

Fire immediately.

Yet again, I'll only give you the answer, figure out the logic yourself. It only spoils the fun >:D

The Monty Hall problem
From: Wikipedia
Suppose you’re on a game show and you’re given the choice of three doors. Behind one door is a car; behind the others, goats. The car and the goats were placed randomly behind the doors before the show. The rules of the game show are as follows: After you have chosen a door, the door remains closed for the time being. The game show host, Monty Hall, who knows what is behind the doors, now has to open one of the two remaining doors, and the door he opens must have a goat behind it. If both remaining doors have goats behind them, he chooses one randomly. After Monty Hall opens a door with a goat, he will ask you to decide whether you want to stay with your first choice or to switch to the last remaining door. Imagine that you chose Door 1 and the host opens Door 3, which has a goat. He then asks you “Do you want to switch to Door Number 2?” Is it to your advantage to change your choice? (Krauss and Wang 2003:10)

And figure the logic yourself :P

Devil's Quarter Game
From: xkcd
You die, and are brought before the devil to determine whether you will go to heaven or hell.

The Devil says that if you beat him at quarter placement game you can go to heaven. The rules of the game are this:

There is a large circular table. You and the devil each have an unlimited number of quarters. You take turns placing the quarters on the table. The quarters must be laid flat on the table, they cannot hang off the edges, they cannot overlap, but they may touch. A player loses when he cannot make a legal play (i.e. when it is a player's turn, and there is not enough room on the table for them to play another quarter).

The devil plays first, and you realize that you will lose.

What was the devil's first play, and what is his unbeatable strategy?

He played in the center, thus every move you make he will mirror that move.
i.e.: You play 2 inches away from the center, he will then play 2 inches away in the opposite direction of the center, following the diameter made by intersecting those 3 plays.

That doesn't make any sense.

The first women has a one in three chance of getting the one that isn't hers. So it can't be 100%. I'd like to see how you got to that.

and id already given that answer.

wait. did the owners place the umbrellas there? or where they at a store? cuz if so.... 100% they just bought them so they are all right.

Three Princesses

Ask any one princess whether Princess 2 is older than Princess 3

Russian Roulette

Fire immediately. No bullet is in the barrel

Devil's Quarter Game

He started dead centre and mirrors all of your moves.

I couldn't figure out the Monty Hall one.

I posted the answers, but it seems the logic you used to get to those answers aren't correct.

3 Princesses: You got the answer, you asked the question, but whom do you pick afterwards asking the question? That's where the real logic comes in to see if you understand the answer.

Russian Roulette: There are bullets in there. You are an eyewitness to him putting them in. Like I said, DON'T think outside the box for these questions. There's no trick with wording at all.

3 Princesses: The question in the riddle was "What question do you ask?" I answered it fine :P

Russian Roulette: Assuming it's a revolver, there are bullets in the gun, but not the barrel. He never clicked the thingy to spin the next round into position. If it's not a revolver, than ignore this comment.

The Monty Hall Problem

Simple mathmatical problem, to do with variable change. You should switch, as you have a 2/3 chance of winning.

a man makes something but he sells it the man that buys it has no use for it the man that uses it doesnt know what it is

Each line is it's own part of the riddle, so pay attention! (And if you read Harry Potter 4, don't give the logic and wordplay away. That's the fun part.)

I am a person you would not want to trust;
I am in the middle of middle and the end of end;
I am at the end of a hard to find word.
Put those together.
What am I?

I have... only a few minutes, so let's see what I can do. 1wingangel's puzzle seemed like fun, anyways, here's my logic to the solution.

3 Princesses:

Answer (in the spoiler tag): Ask Princess A if Princess B is older than Princess C

If the answer is yes, get C. If the answer is no, get B

Logic: Let's use a table

A B C Yes or no?
Older Middle Youngest Yes
Older Youngest Middle No
Youngest Oldest Middle No
Youngest Middle Oldest Yes
Middle (lie) Oldest Youngest No
Middle (truth) Oldest Youngest Yes
Middle (lie) Youngest Oldest Yes
Middle (truth) Youngest Oldest No

If you look at all the situations when the answer is Yes, Princess C is never the middle child. And if the answer is No, never is Princess B the middle child.

Now off to marry either B or C depending on A's answer.

Then once you marry the girl, ask her if it's night time or day. Depending on her answer, you'll know if she's the older one or the younger.

How about a classic?

I have two barrels of liquid. One has wine in it, the other water. If I take a cup of wine, pour it in the water and thoroughly combine the two, then take a cup of the water/wine solution and pour it back into the wine, is there now more water in the wine, of more wine in the water?

There is an equal amount of wine in the water and water in the wine

Russian Roullette

The first bullet fired was the bullet that would have come after the other bullet. Does that make sense? So the bullet he fired was in 12 o clock. The other bullet was at 2 o'clock, or whatever. Barrel spins clockwise.

ok another riddle it is really hard, your head might kersplode

ok you have 10 bags of gold infront of you each bag is numbered 1-10 only 1 bag of gold is real and the rest are fake they look exactly the same except the real gold weighs 1.1 ounces and fake gold weights 1.0 ounces (incase you dont know you can tell the difference just by holding it ok you have a scale you can use it once then it breaks like put something on and takesomething off then it breaks what is the one thing you do with the scale to figure out what bag of gold is real?

take 1 coin from bag 1 2 from bag 2 3 from bag 3 4 from bag 4 5 from bag 5 6 from bag 6 7 from bag 7 8 from bag 8 9 from bag 9 and 10 from bag 10 put it all on the scale and say the scale says 10.4 ounces that means the real gold is the fourth bag because the real gold pieces are 1.1 ounces and the answer is 10.4
