Hi, I have seen quite a few titles about being "writer of the month" of various months . Basically, I was wondering is there some type of competition to determine this? If so, I think I would like to partcipate. Thanks in advance.

A while ago there was a competition in L+L, it was removed for various reasons.

Writer/Poet of the Month is a honorary title given for literary accomplishments in the L&L. The nominations have been on and off several times. You have probably also seen there hasn't been title for every month. Collection of works by the winners can be found in the literary spotlight - achived oTM winners - thread.

It wasn't a competition in the direct sense of the word. Rather, fellow writers in the L&L nominated authors they thought would deserve the title and then the staff would select a winner among those nominated.The nominating process varied along the way, but since it was here the last time around, one needed two nominations with sufficient reasonings and delibarations on the strengths and weaknesses of the nominee to get into the list. The WotM- and PotM-nominations are currently on a break.
