Lately, I've been noticing that I can't delete any thread starter-posts that I made and some regular old posts. Personally, I think we should be able to delete all of our posts and it's been annoying to ask an AK to do that every time.
I'm sorry if this is considered whining, but I want to be able to delete all of my post...

It depends on the area of the forum you are in. Some areas allow you to delete your post, while others do not. If an area used to allow people to delete their post, but does not now. It probley means that people abused the option is some way.

Wiseman is right, anyway, i don't think you can even delete
A post that started a thread, even in a delete-post
Area, one time i wanted to delete something, it wouldn't
let me, so i checked one of my other post and saw i could delete that,
went back to the one i wanted to delete, and it still wouldn't let me.
so i just ignored it and moved on :) Also, there is A EDIT butten next to your post on the right
if you do not like your post :)

You can see the options available to you at the bottom right hand of the screen of the board you are trying to post in. In the majority of boards here, normal members can delete their own posts and threads. There are some exceptions, but as Shadow_Dawg says, this will be for a good reason. As these reasons likely vary per board, if you would like further information on a specific board, then the best thing to do would be to PM that board's Head Moderator

Adding to what the others said, if you posted a thread in Roleplaying, and you delete it, so many people have taken time to write great roleplays about it. All of those posts are then gone.

Ya like Sir Gnome has say the best thing to do is pm that board moderator
and also if you cant deleted your own post
you can alway pm a archknight on that board
and ask them to deleted it for you.

The default setting for the forums is that you can delete any of your posts at any time. However, if you find you can't delete a post, there's usually a specific reason we made it that way...

For example:

  • As was stated above, in areas like the RP forum we don't let you delete your post because it deletes a portion of a group effort and affects others
  • In Encyclopedias you can't delete a starting post because it would remove the entire Encyclopedia entry
  • Likewise, in many forums the initial poster can't delete the first post once others have posted, as it will delete the entire thread
  • Some suggestions forums don't allow post deletion at all, to keep people from deleting and reposting to bump threads

If you find a forum where it seems strange that you can't delete a post (like, if you posted in a random thread in OOC and couldn't go back and delete it later) there might be a problem... but as has already been mentioned, if you find you can't personally delete your post you'll need to contact a Mod or AK to do it for you becasue we've set it up that way intentionally.
