I say that Ideas should at least be beneficiary for the Forums.
Smiley faces in sigs? Um I think you can already do that; but it's only limited to three similies.
And smilies that move would only make things slower. There's a good reason why Signatures and Avatars have particularly strict rules about file sizes. A checklist for creating a thread? I don't really know. It would depend on what the subject of the actual thread is.

Chaos!

@The Braken Bard:
I believe he meant adding smileys on signatures, since (I believe) that feature is only available on posts. I don't see a point on it, but I believe it's possible.

I'm curious about doing a check list for threads, specially what kind of check list. The very basic concepts of a post are title and the post itself, while the rules are complements of what you can and can't do. A check list of every rule would be extreme, specially when there are arbitrary rules (like spam), which only a human being would be able to judge (at least, when it's not just putting one letter on the entire post). In some boards, there are specifications (like L&L's constructive criticism) but I believe creating a specific format for every check list would take too much work and would end up not worth it.

Even if, lets say, keep only important, non-arbitrary rules, knowing the rules is something every forum member should (or rather, need to) know, being it on the border of his page or not, and putting a list of only a few of them could make some forum members believe these are the only rules that are used on the board.

The check list would be interesting if it was customizable like a Word page, as for example, a user of the Debate Club would be able to put specific points he would like to address on it, and elaborate his post based on them, but I believe it would end up being way too much work for something you can easily reproduce with the actual program and the likes. While the idea is fun and interesting, I don't see much point on it, at least on the current forums.
