Prologue

As sinister spawns of the dark, we rose from the ashes of defeat and screams of the dead and dieing. We started as a small group watching each others back but we knew we could achieve so much more. As we grew fighting broke out among us about what are focus should be and thus the guild split. We engaged in many civil wars, heavy losses on each side of the battle field. Over time people deserted their side to live a life of less violence and the LoD went into a deep slumber. The lands of our ancestors grew void of life and everything was still...until they came.

They came in armors of silver and gold. They build over the land while worshiping their own culture's spirit of good. They thrived on OUR lands for many years. Eventually enough was enough. The surviving blood lines of our original society felt the urge to take back their land.

Pulsing thought inside their head. Never ending darkness filled their thoughts.....and they liked it. Finally they were linked as one in mind and they met in the site of the last battle. Miles outside of the land of their ancestors. They then began the summoning.

They performed it in the Chaos of Shadowscythe's attack. They pillaged villages until the needed sacrifices were collected. Many died on the expedition. Many were caught and tortured. Many were enslaved. Now, it was all worth it. There was a red flash. The laws of physics began to fade away. There was now a huge gash in the sky, more over the universe itself. A dark figure left from the void and stepped into our reality.

"WHO DARES SUMMON ME?" Then the figure saw the residence living on his once captured land. His face became grim as he saw the only remaining members were few. "We have much work to do my sons and daughters." And with that he held his hand up to the sky and another rip appeared. The figure floating out had a green.

The figure floated down next to his leader and said: "Shall we begin?" And with that they marched to Shadowscythe castle, preparing themselves for the coming battle agent Swordhaven for the right of their land.

Chapter 1
Our living arrangements

After the long conquest from Oaklore to Skullhome, we finally came upon the capitol. Shadowfall. We set up camp outside and Reaper and I set off on a long walk to the throne room to meet Gravelyn. I enjoyed the sights of young knights training away to do the will of evil. Also the amount of undead was astounding.

We finally reached the throne room and were greeted by 2 maids of Gravelyn. They told us “I'm dearly sorry, but Gravelyn can not see any visitors until they make an appointment to see her. The sheet to make an appointment is over there....hehehehehe.”

Confused by what the maids were laughing about, we walked over to the dried out oak table with a sheet and quill pen on top. The list had well over 100 names on it and the top of the list had a name with request dated back 20 years. Me and Reaper stared at each other for a moment.

We walked over to the maids and said “I'm sorry, but you are going to have to make a acception on this occasion.” Suddenly Reapers eyes glowed red and he out stretched a hand toward the maids. The maids eyes suddenly glowed red too and they said in perfect eerie unison: “Please, right this way. Lady Gravlyn will see you now.”

We were escorted into the throne room and our eyes met with Gravelyn's. She commanded “Sate your business here or perish where you stand!” Reaper smirked then said in a soft whisper “I would like to see you try...hehe” Then in a louder voice he said “My followers and I would like to offer a proposition.”

“You see, we share a common annoying enemy. Alteon and his forces. They have taken over the land of our birthright. They have also soiled the land with their contradictory beliefs and ways of life. It is our duty to reconquer that land and further spread the work word evil. It is because of this that we are asking for your hospitality so that we can grow powerful once again and take back what is rightfully ours.”

After hearing this Gravelyn spoke: “If you are who you say you are, then I shall provide what you ask. In return, when you finally capture Swordhaven we demand to merge empires and rule under one rule; me.”

Reaper was silent for a moment but then a smirk ran across his face yet again. “Deal” Although reaper had no intention of doing what Gravelyn had asked. When the time was right, he would conquer Swordhaven and then conquer Shadowfall.

Chapter 2
New home

After our nice chat with Gravlyn, Reaper and I went back to base camp and told our followers the news. A few hours later 3 of Gravlyn's servants came and told us to follow. We were guided around the castle to a large field where a summoning circle was prepared. We were told stand back while the ceremony was performed.

The 7 Sorcerers needed for the ceremony were gathered and they took their places. They began murmuring some strange words and then the ground began to glow. A large obsidian castle broke the crust of the earth where the circle was and rose up from the ground. Its immensity and nearly put Shadowscythe castle to shame.

The next few days were spent settling into our new home. It had everything you could imagine. A archery field, a library, A meeting hall, a gym, a bed room for each member, and so much more. There were many open rooms and fields that could be used for anything we needed too. After everyone was assigned a room, the reaper and I called a meeting to order. There, we established a system for divisions and division focuses.

After everyone left the meeting hall I decided this must be said. “When are you going to summon the rest of the elders? Now that we have created their divisions shouldn't we bring them back so they can lead it?”

Reaper replied “No....not quite yes. It takes a immense amount of energy to summon them. I just barely was able to summon you. No, we shall wait. Guide the divisions temporally ourselves and summon a elder when possible.”

After that chat we retired to our rooms for the night. I just hoped we could maintain order while Reaper was regenerating energy.

Chapter 3
The first summoning

“Morning Reaper. What was that noise I heard in your room last night?” Reaper replied “Oh.....that was...nothing” I gave him a look that told him I saw through his lie and we went to the mess hall for breakfast.

Around noon Gravlyn burst into the mess hall shouting “WHO DID IT?! WHO BROKE INTO MY CASTLE LAST NIGHT AND STOLE MY RING?!” I gave reaper a really dirty look and he pulled me aside careful to stay out of sight from Gravlyn. “Don't say a word. I was up last night reading about ancient artifacts of power in the library. I found out the nearest one was Gravelyns secret ring.

“It contains the energy of a sealed demonic spirit that I could use to summon another elder. Gravelyn has no knowledge of the spirit so I want to use it to summon Crivannia and give it back. Stay quiet of this for the best interest of our empire.”

I replied. “Wait...Crivannia? You sure?” Reaper replied. “Yes, of all of the elders, she seems the most useful at the moment.”

After Reaper sweet talked Gravelyn out of the room, we began the summoning. It was done in the room under the castle furthest underground. Reaper extracted the demon from the ring and devoured its spirit in a flash. With the energy that was given to him, he ripped a opening in the universe and out emerged Crivannia.

“Hello Reaper, I see the time has come. How my I be of service?” Reaper and I then filled Crivannia in and she nodded at the end. “I suppose you want me to do what I do best?” Reaper responded. “Yes, good luck. Report back in 3 days and take along a few of your new underlings. Teach them your ways.” Crivania nodded and said “I'll do my best” And with that she was off.

Chapter 4
Reaper vs. Reaper

By now things had toned down a bit. Gravlyn now had her ring back and all of the members were busy working for their division and training. It was around this time Reaper and I decided to go on a little walk into the local forest while waiting for Crivannia for respond with her findings.

On the way there we came across a curious dragon. It was small and probably no older than 4 months but it was undead. Strange for such a young dragon to have already died and been resurrected by a necromancer. We thought nothing of the small dragon and moved on. We only became really curious when they filled nearly the entire area.

Suddenly a figure cloaked cloth darker than shadows appeared. He wielded a basic scythe with a strange glow around it. It then spoke in a harsh and dry tone “What business do you have in the forest of the Reaper? Reaper then responded “I have a forest?”

The Reaper then said “Who are you traveler?” Reaper said “My name is Reaper, leader of the LoD. And yours?” The reaper responded “I am Reaper, taker of souls” Reaper then shouted “THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE REAPER!” The reaper then said “My thoughts exactally.” And so the battle began. My only regret of that day is that I did not bring popcorn.

The battle was well parred. The Reaper was quite a strong opponent but Reaper was too. There were flashes of red and green, auras were flaring. Reaper got the upper hand after The reaper missed with his scythe and he administered the killing blow. The reaper was defeated...at least that's how it seemed.

The reaper stood up just about when we were about to leave and he uttered “You cant kill me,I'm death itself. But since you were a worthy opponent, I will leave you in peace. You are also lucky you didn't kill me. Do you have any idea what the work load of being the taker of souls? Anyway, farewell.” And with that The Reaper disappeared.

When we finally got back to the castle, Crivannia was standing in the hallway. “I have some grave news Reaper.” Reaper then said “That's kinda ironic considering what I just went through.” Crivannia remained silent and said “Trust me, this is no laughing matter.”

Chapter 5
The metting

“What do you have to report Crivannia?”Reaper asked with a grim face. “Nothing good. Swordhaven's forces have us numbered 1-100. But since our forces are 15x more powerful than swordhaven's forces......its more like 3-20. But, if we were to attack now we would be destroyed.”

Reaper sighed then said “It seems this is going to be a long road to victory. Seems we will have to inhabit this castle and bide our time until we can take their forces AND Shadowscythe's forces.” We moved up to the war room to discuss this in private. We were starting to attract a crowd.

“So....how long until you can revive the 3 remaining elders?...” Asked Crivannia slowly. Reaper rubbed his chin then replied “My powers are at their peak on the night of the full moon. I should be able to summon a elder during that time. “So, one a month? And after all the elders are summoned, then what?” Reaper replied “After that begins stage 2 of my plot to take back our land. I can't give you all the details now. All I can say is that we will be visiting a old friend” I replied in shock “You don't mean?....” “Yes....but do not worry about that now. That wont be for at least 3 months.”Reaper said finishing in a fading voice.

We all sat in the room in silence for a few moments after hearing that. Shortly after a member came barging into the room asking for assistance. Apparently one of my division members had a accident while testing out a experimental plasma blade. **Sighs** Noobs.....Ya just have to live with em.

Chapter 6
An unexpected visitor

After our meeting life went on pretty normally for the next few days. Reaper stored the energy to change the calling area of new members from the lands of Swordhaven to our new castle. We also finally had the time to Have a throne room made. Life seemed to have finally calmed down....and it was starting to get boring. Lucky that void of action was short lived

Around dinner time there was a knock on the grand door. I wend down to welcome the visitor suspecting it was a new member. It was not. The door was burst open and Swordhaven knights stormed inside and formed a guarded path for the guest of honor. Alteon....but something was fishy.

Alton made his way slowly down the isle and his messenger stormed out in front of him shouting “here the', here the'! The good king Alteon has requested a audience with A man named Reaper!” Crivannia looked in horror and fled out of site in fear that they might recognize her. Reaper came up and said “Whats this now?”

Alteon made his way up to reaper and said in as big of a voice he could manege “We have heard rumors that you inhabited our Swordhaven's land long before I, and so to avoid future conflict we would like to arrange a compromise.” Reaper looked Alteon up and down then said in a calm collected voice “Sure, but just a few questions first, How did you menage past the Shadowscythe forces?” A shock of ran across Alteons face but he obviously had a answer prepared.

“We have a truce you see” said Alteon. Reaper then asked “But does that truce allow you to go on their land directly? Also, what about you knights? I am aware of Swordhaven dress code and their armors are a few color shades off....just a bit too purple.” Alteon responded in a gasp. “but uh...” Reaper then interrupted “Also, I didn't think the old king of Swordhaven would look so young. Or even be able to walk to my castle without a walking aid. Weren't you badly wounded by Drakath during your last attack by him?”

At this point Alteon was in complete shock. “I can explai-” Reaper then interrupted “Come out Crivannia, we are not in the presence of the “Great” king Alteon. You can drop the act now, Drakath. What business do you have here?”

Chapter 7
Drakath's proposal

Drakath grinned and then said “Very good. Seems like I might have a change of plans here.” Drakath snapped and all of his escorts changed from knights to chaotic mutated beasts. Then his disguise seemed to melt off revealing his true form. Drakath then said “Now my children, ATTACK!”

We were all in chaos for a few moments but we quickly gained the advantage in the battle. In 1 hour Drakath's escort was dispatched but we lost sight of Drakath. While surveying the battle field we discovered a letter addressed to Reaper from Drakath. I looked at Reaper and said “Well, are you going to open it?” Reaper responded “After this mess is cleaned up. Grab a mop.”

The rest of the night was spent cleaning up Drakath's mess. There were corpses everywhere and we had a hard time deciding weather to Roast or BBQ the dead chaos animals. We ended up going half and half. The rest of the corpses were given to the mages so that they could convert their wisps of spirit energy into ingredients for performing massive spells. Material wise it was a profitable battle. Very few fatal wounded. Something just wasn't right though. This seemed....too easy...

The next day around noon Reaper and I decided to open the letter. It seemed he was more curious than I was. He opened up the letter and put it on the table so we bouth could read. This is what it said:

Dear Reaper,

By now you should at least be wondering why that was such a light attack? Well my answer is quite simple, I would request a alliance. You see, we share common enemies. I know you already are after Swordhaven and that in the future you will come to conquer Shadowfall. I would simply like to outstretch a hand. When we are the only 2 world leaders left, we will fight each other for world domination. But until then, why should we fight? Please think this over and send a messenger over with your response.

Chapter 8
The decision

We were both silent for a moment after fully reading the letter. “Well.....what now?...” Reaper waited a moment the responded “Well.....he does have a point...though his methods of gaining allies has something to be desired.” I then said “Wait....before we take his proposal lets think about this. If we join him that would mean taking on a force Swordhaven AND Shadowfall's forces combined can't handle alone. If it was us VS. Drakath and his forces....I don't like our chances compared to what we already had in mind.”

Reaper was silent pondering all that had happened. He finally said “Well.....if we turn down his decision he might directly attack us.” I responded “Then we must be ready. I think its time we fortified our castle's defense. But first, lets send our reply to Drakath.”

So, we sent off a undead messenger. We feared if we sent one of our own, he/she would be attacked and killed. Our fear was well founded because we never saw that messenger again. As soon as we sent off the messenger though, we began fortifying the castle.

Once we had finally finished, the castle seemed like it could survive anything but lucky that wouldn't be tested soon. We received a letter at about the time construction was finished from Drakath. It said:

Dear Reaper,

No doubt you have taken advice from you foolish little assistant, but no matter. I will not attack you and I will leave the deal open. On the day you finally open your eyes, you are free to join be. But, the day one of your troops raises a blade to one of my own, it is war. You will have to choose eventually. Attack me and crumble with the rest. Or join me and grow so your kingdom and mine may fight on a equal basis in the future. Its your choice.

~Drakath

Reaper spoke after we finished reading. “Well, lets enjoy our neutrality while it lasts I suppose. Grow stronger when we can. Fight when the time comes, we will an we will win.” I then said silently “So...should we test out the defense one last time?” Reaper then replied “Sure..”
