I would first like to say that everyone thing I type here is a suggestion, that is why it is in the "Forum Suggestions" area, and is completely my opinion on what I think SHOULD be done, but doesn't mean it WILL (obviously). Now to the point: I really think the mod's, AE staff, etc. should rethink the multimedia section. It used to be a great place for many players to collaborate on various projects, mainly games. Many of them games failed(lack of interest, time, etc.) until very recently a couple of them made it to beta/alpha(when you could actually play the game). This was of course a first so there were new rules set which can be seen in this quote. quote:
Its been made aware that some games in the multimedia area have finally progressed to large scale. First thing I must say: Congratulations. Now for the bad news. After speaking with Galanoth and the forum admins for some time now, games that have moved onto the stage of requesting a fee for play, upkeep, add ons, ects, are to be removed from the Multimedia area of the Gallery. Since this is an Artix Entertainment forum, which is a game forum, you can see the conflict of interest. Your game can be still talked about in the OOC area like other games are talked about from time to time. Threads that fit into this situation have two weeks to get everything moved to their games personal forum, after which the thread will be closed. Games or projects that accept any form of monetary transfer, regardless of it being mandatory or even as a donation, are NOT allowed to have threads in the Gallery. We are not a place for (future) companies to host free advertising. If your game charges money or allows for donations, then it will not be allowed on these forums. Now as far as I know this was fine with everyone, no fuss at all. Later on I was away from the forums working on my solo-project, I come back and there are new rules and I guess people still made threads?, so then any game projects were locked and none were allowed to be posted :/. I personally think that this is not needed, there were already rules that stated that if there was money involved then the thread was not allowed, simple as that, and that makes perfect sense and I think anybody can understand that. My main question is: How can any of AE's games receive competition from free-based games? Of course AE's games are free and their is membership as a side bonus, but that is not even allowed by us(And as I said before I think people will COMPLETELY understand that)? Obviously AE has a whole staff to create their various games that constantly get updated every week, with thousands of players. Also I wouldn't even say half of the people that play AE's games use the forums. Well there is my suggestion, and hopefully no one takes this offensively :/
