Conceptual notes: A few things to note here: Firstly, I designed the armour before writing the quest. Secondly, I chose to use Gnuvain as not only is he underused and unloved, he also fits the theme best. Thirdly, due to the usage of very old monsters in this quest, it would benefit greatly from them receiving an update. Also, due to some re-thinking, this is kinda like a double quest. There are two possible outcomes, one which leads to the obvious outcome involving a turtle, and one which leads to... an interesting encounter with elves. Due to the split nature of the quest, I have formatted it so that one option is written in red and the other in blue. Oh, one more thing: I know there's already a Flyrtle pet, and it would make more sense for the quest if said pet were to be removed from the Frogzard Hunter shop and swept so as to be one of the level variants bought in this quest.

TURTLES AND ELVES - AN ADVENTURE IN GREENGUARD

SCENE 1: Battleon

Scene opening: You walk into Battleon town centre, and Gnuvain comes to speak with you.

Gnuvain: Ah, <You>, just the person I was looking for! I am in need of some assistance.
You: Gnuvain, it isn't like you to just wander around Battleon! How can I help?
Gnuvain: As you know, I make it my life's work to find every monster on Lore to add to my shapeshifting repertoire. However, recently one creature has been evading me...
Gnuvain: The Fire-Breathing Turtle!
You: A turtle? Doesn't sound like a particular evasive creature to me...
Gnuvain: The Fire-Breathing Turtle is incredibly rare... However, after great effort, I have managed to locate one...
You: I sense a "but" coming.
Gnuvain: BUT... it is deep within Greenguard Forest, in elven territory. A place the elves call "Turtle Swamp".
You: I can see why that might be a problem. Can't you ask the elves nicely?
Gnuvain: This particular group of elves aren't fond of outsiders. I have heard that their king is an understanding person, but... I have little experience with elves, and do not want to risk my life based on hearsay.
You: I guess I could come along, and see what I can do to help.
Gnuvain: Excellent, thank you. Shall we be on our way?

SCENE 2: Greenguard Forest

Scene opening: You and Gnuvain arrive in Greenguard, with the trees incredibly dense.

Gnuvain: We have quite a while to go until we reach the turtle swamp, and we're likely to encounter some woodland creatures.
<You are given the option to take Gnuvain as a guest. The Gnuvain guest uses the same attacks as the monster from the Wizard Games, with guest standards.>

FIGHT

HEAL

<Scene change, the trees become more dense and everything is darker>

You: Is it night time already?
Gnuvain: The trees are too dense here, no light gets through. We will have to be careful - This is elven territory.

FIGHT

???: You should not be here, humans.
<Two elves appear on screen.>
You: We have to pass through to the Turtle Swamp, and we won't take no for an answer.
Gnuvain: *whispering* I don't think that's what he wanted to hear.
Elf: So be it - We shall have to force you out.

FIGHT
Elvish Warrior
Elven Archer
HEAL

Gnuvain: There are elves lurking in the trees everywhere. It would be wise to try our best to sneak past.

<You are given the choice to sneak past the elves, or fight through them. If you sneak past, you have to pass a DEX roll of 60 - If you pass, proceed to the red text. If you fail, fight 2 elves, heal, then proceed to the blue text. If you choose to fight through you fight 4 elves with a heal after every second battle, then proceed to the blue text.>

<An elven warrior in elaborate leathers wielding a large spear and carrying a bow over his shoulder comes in from the left along with two elven archers.>
Cador: Greetings, humans. I am Cador, Cheif Advisor to the Woodland King, and you are trespassing on elven territory.
You: Ah, finally somebody with authority. We seem to be needing some assistance traversing through these fine woods, as your elven comrades keep attacking us. Do you think you could perhaps call them off and have them escort us to Turtle Swamp?
Cador: ...
You: I'll take that as a no then.
Gnuvain: You and your big mouth...
Cador: If you aren't going to leave peacefully, then I shall have to deal with you myself.

FIGHT
Cador
HEAL

Cador: Gah! My friends, seize them and bring them to the King!
You: Looks like we have another fight--
Gnuvain: No, <You>. Enough fighting. It's time to be reasonable.
You: *sigh* Okay then, but if we're held as prisoners I'll blame you.

SCENE 3: The Woodland Palace

Scene opening: You are in a grand palace situated in the trees, and made of living wood. The Woodland King is sat atop an ornate wooden throne on the right side of the screen, facing left, with Cador stood by his side and an elven guard on either side of him.

Cador: These... humans were found in the forest, sire. They attacked our patrol elves and defeated me in battle.
Woodland King: I see... <You>, does it surprise you that I know your name?
You: It... actually doesn't. For some reason, everybody knows who I am and exactly where to find me when they want me to do something for them.
Woodland King: Lavistria of the House of Embers has told of your bravery in the fight against The'Galin. You performed a great service on behalf of not just the elves, but all races of Lore. For that, you have my thanks. I am willing to let you and your friend pass through my realm unscathed.
You: Thank you, your majesty. If you ever need my assistance, you have but to call.
Gnuvain: Phew... looks like your past heroic deeds have served a purpose, eh <You>?
You: And if you ever need a court jester, my friend Gnuvain here would be happy to oblige.
Gnuvain: ...
Woodland King: *chuckles* I'm sure we can find a use for him...
Cador: Your majesty! Are you just going to ignore this human's violent actions against your people?!
Woodland King: Cador, you must not let your pride get the better of you. Being defeated in battle is no cause to disrespect a hero's name.
Cador: Hmph. I'd like to see you face defeat so nobly, sire.
Woodland King: If you so wish. <You>, if you wish to leave now then I would be happy to send you on your way with a gift of peace. However, it would be to my pleasure to face you in combat, if only to ease Cador's mind.
  • I would rather not fight you, your majesty.

REWARDS

You and Gnuvain: *gulp*
Woodland King: You have defeared me in combat, and I offer you my sword as reward.
You: Your majesty... I can not accept.
Woodland King: You must, for all should know how you have defeated me. However... I will accept payment, if you insist.
You: ... I should've just took it and ran.

REWARDS
Woodland King's Scimitar
Flyrtle

SCENE 3: Turtle Swamp

Scene opening: You and Gnuvain arrive at the swamp, a dark, wet place with water gradually getting deeper towards the centre.

Gnuvain: The turtle is at the centre of the swamp - We'll have to fight our way through!
