Currently, there's a Rule in Clans, Houses & Guilds where if a Clan Member violates a Signature Rule connected with the Clan (Like Clan Advertising, i.e. "Join This Clan Now!"), the Clan is given a Warning.

I do not think this is fair.

Okay, if on the CH&G Recruitment Thread, it actually makes the rule-breaking Signature it's 'official' (it's advertised to be used by Clan Members and/or it's on their CH&G Recruitment Thread.) Clan Signature - I can see why the Clan would recieve a Warning.

But. If it is not the Clan's 'official' Signature, and one user has made it and just that user uses it, I think it's wrong to punish the whole Clan.

Is it really the Clan Leader's place to check every Clan Members' Signature and tell them what they can/cannot do and what they should be doing on BattleOn Forums? If so, is that not Mini-Modding?

When someone joins a clan he/she should read the rules of the CH&G board too.
And as this is a rule, I hardly believe that it would be considered mini-modding if you have, let's say, something like "If you use a clan signature, have it approved by the Clan Leader first." in the rules of your own clan/guild.

To what i know as long as the signature is not misleading it fine.
Like this signature i found and i ask if its fine, the signature was linked to their recruitment page and its has the word "Join Here" in it,they said its not misleading.
This is a better example http://i53.tinypic.com/5y6kqs.png . Before, this kind of signature isn't allowed but as long as the signature is broadcasting that it will be directing a user to the clan page or ect it should be fine.
I didn't know that these kind of signature are allowed in forums now because they revised the rule so i think and to what i understand,"Click here to see a good website"(trick links) and it is linked to your clan page is a misleading one.
And maybe just to be safe if they make a signature just don't put any text in it just the clan name esp. if its link to any of the sites that your clan is known(i.e. website/forum/recruitment page). Maybe a signature test in your P. forum would be good to,saying that if they are trying to advertise the clan they have to test it first,in this way you can checked the signature before the user can use it in any of the sites especially AE forums.

Im trying to find this rule but the CH&G forums has undergone to some changes so i can't find that specific rule anymore

Correct me if im wrong.

*The link is just an example, not to discriminate the clan

This is just to stop the spamming of people that want other people to join their clans.

It would help if you linked exactly where in the rules this is stated, as what I'm reading directly opposes the rule you are contesting.

For instance, from the Clans, Factions & Guilds Recruitment Forum Rules:

quote:

  • Advertising
The best way to advertise your clan is through your Signature. Do not sent out unsolicited PMs to other Forum Users about your Group, and do not create threads or posts in other forum boards to advertise or recruit members to your Group.

  • Is it possible there was a misunderstanding somewhere?

drDOT: There's no real way of knowing if they have or not, though.

The Legendary d4: Thank you for your suggestion on using the PF. :)

Spy: A warning to the individual would still help stop it, instead of warning the Clan.

Everest: I asked about the Signature Rule here.

@ Zyrain, that was an old rule for the Clans/Clubs section (prior to the CHG change). Clans no longer receive a warning when a member breaks the signature-rule.

@ The Legendary d4, You are correct that clan signatures are now permitted to use "Click Here to Join" type slogans as long as they are not misleading. Additionally, clan signatures may either link to the CHG Recruitment Thread or the clans private-forums.
