@^ vanguard basically means at the front, and in an army waht do you put at the front? a giant sheild of course :)

So the 3 I've gotten are AirRider, Vanguard, and Max Protector. Anyone got a problem with these?

I vote Vanguard also.

It was actually the name I was considering for an upgraded Viking mech, but since the next mech is defensive I guess that works too.

looks to me like it has knight helmets for thighs, a dragons body for the waist, big elf shoes for the lower legs, and tiny shield arms. dont know what to make of the chest yet...

edit: perhaps its too late to suggest more names at this point but how about sentinel?

I know right... It doesn't look defensive, but it's supposed to be defensive. Confusing. If we are voting, I pick Vanguard, because it is supposed to be defensive. AirRider doesn't really fit with a defensive mech, sharp feet or not.

-Shrug- I think Vanguardian might work (seeing that it's my idea and that the mecha doesn't look too bulky).

Air Strider will work because we've had the MoreHawk and the Mohawk.

"Vanguard" is a little cliche, in my opinion, so I would try to add some sort of pun or whatever to make it more minty fresh. Seeing as "VanGuardian" isn't a "real" word, I'll vote for that with the vanilla "VanGuard" as my secondary.

 Honestly? I can see why people want to call it the Vanguard, but in my opinion it doesn't look all that defensive. The legs just kill it for me because it almost resembles a speed-design. XD There is no denying that it is a sweet design though.

I would say that it should be called the Bodyguard.

Why? It's defensive. It's a play on the fact that its body is the defensive part. Since we're the "hero" we protect the people.

Soooo all Korin is waiting for is a name for the mecha?

I think the "contradiction" between its appearance and function makes it better. Deception is a powerful tool, and all's fair in [love and] war.

Besides the name, I am also concerned with the epithet or subtitle given to each variant of this SCMM. Throwing in V(number) feels rather weak. And no, we should not use "iron, bronze... adamantium" a third time. Considering that it is a defensive mecha, probably various synonyms for "protective" could be used.

V43 -> Immovable
V38 -> Unyielding
V33 -> Steadfast

And so on and so forth.

But Bodyguard just sounds so boring this is a giant mecha game we want something that sounds cool.

I like that idea. I like the sound of Immovable Vanguard though I wouldn't get to use that one.
