I've found that a LOT of people tend to be ninja'd, or post about things that have been mentioned in previous posts, most often the post right above theirs.

Why don't we have a feature that will stop your post if another post has already been made in the thread before yours?

That way, we don't have so many of these...

Imagine how that would function in any thread which would expect more than one reply, such as a discussion thread in AQGD.

phpBB manages to have such a function...

At least another forum powered by phpBB I know does.

And that forum has TONS of threads that exceed the 1000s in posts, mind you.

Then what if someone posted the wrong answer, or didn't fully answer the question(s)?

ya... I must say there are way too much wrong answers on forum, if we have to prevent "ninja" post, we should prevent wrong answer first

If there is a wrong question, that thread goes to waste. Eh?
I'm against this suggestion :o.

can a phBB forum handle a warning like: A new message has been posted while you were writing this message. Do you want to review first?
That could be helpful.

Sorry, I'll slow down on answering questions :P

On a serious note, masked's suggestion of a review the new message would be helpful. Especially considering they can be set so that you can press the view or ignore button. That way, Chii, you wouldn't have to worry about the GD threads that get a lot of posts.

The way this forum is set up, it could be possible to implement this idea, then after it tells you someone else has posted, the site can redirect you to the "post a reply" section instead of "fast reply". That way, you can review the last 10 posts. :P

@Gold
Problem with moving it.

Imagine you've written loads on Fast Reply, just to lose it all because someone else has posted.

Hmm...

Perhaps it'd just be like the back button, and then you can copy, paste, and edit if necessary.

On Forumotion, it has the function and if someone posted before you, it'll stay in the post screen and let you know that someone posted. From there you can either click on the link to that new post or ignore it and post anyway. I think we're all tech savvy enough to know that if we right click on that link, we can pull it up in another tab/window and not lose what we typed :P

Someone mentioned Forumotion? Yup, I agree! Indeed, the post won't be gone and if that can be implemented here as well, it'll be grand.

I know in plenty of forums, when you hit post, they will check to see if someone posted while you were typing up your post, and it will send you to a page saying, "x amount of posts were made while you were writing yours. Would you like to edit yours in light of this?" And it would show the posts made. That would be an awesome feature here.

I take it you are thinking along the lines of a chat filter that prevents repeated info
just think about how well the one in aqw works

Can I update that suggestion? I think the "Make others Unable to post when I'm making a post" Feature isn't really very good posted, so maybe my suggestion to update that Idea will make it better. Let's say you are writing a post and someone else is ALSO writing a post, but YOU started writing before him. Let's say he posted and then you posted after him. Your post appears BEFORE his post EVEN if he Submitted before you! I think this will make your idea better ^.-
