With all the talk lately of founder appreciation, player appreciation and all the things the devs have promised and never delivered on, I thought I would point out something seldom mentioned.
The complete lack of meaning and purpose behind factions/faction war. For starters, many new faction features were never added. Faction founder step down, additional roster spaces and, more importantly, more meaning behind the entire concept which is the heart of the game system, factions/flags/war.

Factions cost varium to create. So they are not a "free" aspect of game play. Yet, despite this fact, how exactly does being a faction leader benefit anyone? We speak of founders, betas, elites,
but what about faction founders? What about top officers who have done thousands of kills and added thousands of flag tokens? These factions are driving the entire game battle system, daily. Contributing to ALL battle related leaderboards. Keeping the war alive so to speak. Players work hard to maintain flags and activity in these factions, yet get little to no reward. The faction leaders have no power to give special achievements like MVP (10,000+ kills), Flag Bearer (10,000+ Tokens), War Machine (10,000+ War Kills), for example. Why not give more reward to the players and factions that literally support the entire battle system daily and weekly? And what about the leaders? Why bother winning medals when it seems meaningless? What does a faction leader receieve for winning 50 medals? Nothing. No faction upgrade. No special achievement. No special item. As well as, no ability to share/reward weapons, varium, credits, or award the top players special faction achievements. So why bother?

What is the point of faction score? Is there really any difference between a level 7 faction and level 11? What would be a new player's motivation to establish a new faction, if months later all that hard work seems hardly appreciated, not just by the ED community but more importantly it's designers.

Where is the evolution of the faction system? Where is the appreciation for long time faction founders and their best officers for all they have contributed to the game, flag, war system and the
entire battle engine, daily? What exactly is the point of creating or maintaining a faction? What can the devs do to improve on this? What can they do to reward the best faction leaders and officers
in game? Please discuss. I'd be curious to hear what some of you think.

i agree and i think there should be an achievemnt for donating tokens to the flag to encourage donations. I also think members should get this too but back to the point I want to make I think for each level that the faction gains all members and founder should get this achievement. Heres how I figure:
lvl 1 fac= 500 rating points
lvl 2 fac = 750 rating points
lvl 3 fac= 1000 rating points
lvl 4 fac = 1250 rating points
lvl 5 fac = 1500 rating points
lvl 6 fac = 1750 rating points
lvl 7 fac = 2000 rating points
lvl 8 fac = 2250 rating points
lvl 9 fac = 2500 rating points
lvl 10 fac = 2750 rating points
lvl 11 fac = 3000 rating points
Would be awesome if it compounded but that would be just a big plus lol or the achievement could "upgrade" every time the fac levels up

I do agree that Factions need more meaning.. they can be fun alot of the time, but without any solid meaning behind them it just feels like they lack something

Hopefully they will be added to in the future, im sure they will be

In an ongoing war, raiding and skirmishes would make sense. And sabotaging. Instead of factions allowing each other to blow each other to bits.

My suggestion:

1000 1vs1 wins =>500 Rating achievment
10,000 1vs1 wins =>1500 Rating achievment
50,000 1vs1 wins =>3000 Rating achievment

1000 2v2 wins =>500 Rating achievment
10,000 2vs2 wins =>1500 Rating achievment
50,000 2vs2 wins =>3000 Rating achievment

10,000 Score =>500 Rating achievment
50,000 Score =>2000 Rating achievment

Won daily 1vs1 =>1000 Rating achievment
Won daily 2vs2 =>1000 Rating achievment

50 Exile/Legion wins =>1000 Rating achievment

Totally supported.
I'm in no faction, first of all because i can't donate enough activity, but second of all, because factions provide nothing except for 3 badges, of which one is varium related.
So where the cause of being part of a faction, if you already have 2 of those 3 medals?

First of all you are right , Faction system need more meaningfull purposes but dont forget this game is in a Testing Phase so admins will improve it in my opinion because the total faction system is useless

We need more earnings form factions , this shouldnt be an achievment because after getting all achivments that factions give , they become useless.Maybe...

A Credit System:
in WD
Leader gets 30k credtis
Officers gets 15k credits
Members gets 5k credtis


in 1vs1
Leader gets 20k credits
Officers gets 12k credits
Members gets 6k credits


in 2vs2
Leader gets 20k credits
Officers gets 12k credits
Members gets 6k credits


Alligenment Victories

Leader gets 2k credits
Officers gets 1k credits
Members gets 500 credits


After admins reduced the prices of credit enhance credit reward will be good for faction war system , players with good factions can enhance their weps more easyly.This will make players more active and Finaly Victories will be rewarded.

I would love to see some sort of Faction War's

Not just by getting war kills from paying credits and varium..

But i mean Factions actually going to war with eachother.. and it being listed somewhere that they are at war with eachother

For an e.g

Say i am in a faction called Green Faction and there is a faction called Blue Faction

Blue factions leader just called Green Factions leader a noob and flamed the whole of Green Faction

The greens dont like this at all and have decided to declare war on the blues.. bring it the blues say, so they declare war and it is listed that they are "At war"

Now, everytime they do a 1v1 or 2v2 and a member of the faction they are at war with is in the fight, it should tell you.. maybe they could have there names appear in red or something? or maybe you could even select to "Fight for the war" as a new battle mode..

Now if you kill this person you are at war with in a fight.. you get extra points maybe? and a war kill for your faction

Maybe wars only last for 1 week and the Faction with the highest number of wars kills win the war.. hmm

Thats what i think war kills should be..

What do you think?

Great Idea !

I do not care for faction anymore, I got the 2 badge I can have from them, so I'm not in a faction right now.

I only missing the money and varium hungry warkill badge, but I don't care for badge you have to pay for, I never have bought and never will buy any achivement.
The fun achievement are those you work for, NPC achievement, quest and so on.

What do you guys feel 'bout these?

Faction Earnings
Since Factions give no purpose to players except the World Domination and Flag Captured Badges, there should be an Incentive for them to win the Daily War. Giving 250 Credits to every Player who participated in 5+ battles on that day and on the winning side would serve the Purpose. Each Flag Capture could give 500 Credits, and World Domination gives 750 Credits at to the players online that day at the Server Reset.

Missions
A Faction Leader can set up a Reward for players who perform well, such as rewarding the first player who wins 1000 Battles for his or her Faction with a number of Credits. Note: The Credits are deducted from the Leader's Credit Supply. Varium cannot be used as a Reward. A Maximum of 3 Missions can be available at one time.

Faction Wars
A Faction War is Initiated when an Officer or Leader of a Faction challenges another Faction's Leader or Officer. The Faction's players that are online battle against the other Faction's online players in 6 rounds. The Leader or Officer selects the players to go in battle. However, each player can only be twice once per faction War. A Faction must have at least 3 players online to accept or decline a Faction War Challenge. Battles during a Faction Battle do not count towards a player's Battle Record, but it gives the usual Tokens, Credits and Experience as in Normal Battles. If the two Factions participating are of the same Alignment, the winner gains 500 Influence while the loser loses the same amount of Influence. When the Factions are Aligned differently, the winner gains 1000 Influence while the loser loses that amount. The winner also gets to Sabotage the loser's HQ by disabling it's Artillery Weapons for 100 Battle Tokens for an Hour. The Faction Leader can choose to enable or disable the Officers' ability to Accept or Initiate Faction Wars. A Faction cannot participate in 2 Faction Wars at one time. Also, the winner can use up half of the gained Influence to rob 500 BattleTokens from the Vault.

Faction Vault
This Vault stores Battle Tokens for the Leader to donate into a Flag at ease. Members put the Tokens into the Vault, but only the Leader can take them out. This allows the Leader to easily donate to a Flag at the right moment. The Tokens can only be used by the Leader in Flag Captures. If the Faction is disbanded, the remaining tokens in the Vault are divided to the Members, with 10% more to the Leader and Officers.

I stay with my faction because I have known the leader for a long time and have some history with the other guys. We are a fairly tight knit group. It's about playing with some of the same people for a long period of time. It is not like your going to find your BFF but you can meet some cool people and get to know them over time. I agree with some in game structure improvements but achievments and all that aren't why I do or would stay with my crew...

What about a way to keep the number of tokens you have donated to the faction when you leave then come back and won't need to start all over in wins for the faction and tokens donated

I can't see why you would want to promote people coming and going back and forth in a faction????

Me for example yeas in legit still am I had like 16000 wins and like 15000 donated then I had to leave then va
E back and had to start all over

I like the idea of faction earned achievements that increase in value with faction level up. Also, a credit based reward system with either alignment wins or more likely, faction medal wins. This would allow the faction founder to award his/her best players with a little extra credits to enhance or purchase items.

Developing the storyline will better allow us to improve the faction system. The mission engine that is and will continue to be released in phases, will give us some building blocks to give loads more purpose and meaning to the war system.

I support this to the fullest :D I feel that as the system develops more Players will feel the urge to create a faction. On top of that if some sort of benifit is put in place for Members of a Faction and a buffed version of that benefit is created for Officer than perhaps Players will strive to better themselves within their factions and, in turn, increase the way that Faction performs. I hope to see some sort of Faction benchmark placed to push people to create, join, and increase the power of their Factions.

I'd Like to Revive This Topic, Seeing As Though It Had Some Great Ideas And Titan Took The Time To Respond.

I'm Curious...What And When Do The Devs Think They Can Improve On Factions?

Because, I Run 2 All-Time Factions And At Times, I Myself Don't See The Point Or Reward In Doing So (Sadly).

There Is Little Difference In A Level 8 Faction And Level 11. Which Is A Shame. What Is The Point Of Faction Score? Or The Faction Level?

What Do We Get As Faction Leaders Or Top Officers For Winning So Many Medals? I Begin To Ask, What's My Motivation?

There Have Been Many Great Ideas To Give More "Power" To Faction Leaders (Faction Token Vault, Achievement/Credit Reward To Officers/Members, Item Sharing/Trading)...

But Nothing Has Been Done Since The Inception Of Factions. Why Not?

Shouldn't A Level 11 Faction Have Some Sort Of Reward Over A Level 7? It Makes Little Sense To Me.

Turky (Turkish Incubus) has the best ideas by far, but I just want to add a little one in.
Faction pages.
These would be similar to character pages, but you'd have faction information. This would update with the faction, then, rather than having to take screenshots of everything, you could just give a link to your faction page. It would show everything the ingame version does, except you could click on member names to see their personal character pages.

like turkish idea it seem reasonable plus it helps non varium and even varium players. well all i can see now is the faction which have the most varium can decide if they win wd or not so basically cannon control wd. and i dun like how the cannon cost lodas of varium or loads of credits to fire. why not add a daily faction cannon firing achievment it might make some people happy and it can show which faction are really dedicated to make thier alligmnet win.

i absolutely love all of these idea, and think they should all be put in, except with lower rating points for the first quote, and no achievement for the exile/legion wins in the second post, coz your faction doesn't need to do anything for it

also at turks quote i made, maybe lower the alignment victories one because people could go inactive for months and come back with like 30k credits more

Sorry to gravedig, but I too support these ideas.
I also like DillBagel's idea of faction pages.

Back when factions became popular and there were few level 30's, say in beta, EVERYONE wanted to be in a faction, everyone wanted control of flags, the awards and the ingame reputation of being part of a well established faction.

Legit, AotL, TSAAS, SK, KotR, BKoC, EDGlads, DSX .

That's to nam a few of the high priority ones, I know I've missed out a lot, including the major 2v2 factions, but these factions were full of hard working, competetive and skilled players, one's that when someone saw them they'd be like OMG IT'S YOU! WOW!
Now it seems like everyone and their Mum's is packing a faction ;] Movie quote.
And there ae so many high levelled players that nobody really stands out.

We need legendary factions back, and the attitude to go with it, about 5 new factions, all with top ranked, well known players just appearing one day and wreaking absolute havoc on the leaderboards, grabbing W.D, Most faction wins etc. and really stirring up the faction spirit again. i've literally not looked at the faction board more than twice since gamma started.

If there were more options for factions, people would really find this game a lot better, it'd give them a sense of pride knowing there wins are contributing to something, and people would have less time to notice how unbalanced certain aspects are so much, just like on the old EDF.

I say bring it on, this is a pvp game, a war between two sides, Legion and Exile.

WARRRRRR TIIIIIIMMEEEEEE!

wat bout displaying the player faction on the players char page too. it would be nice to know wat faction the person is in by clicking the char page. this would save the troble of looking for the person and seeing wat faction they are in and u can alos see the person fation when the person is offline.
