 Ok I'm finally going to get back to you on why topics Such as The Gap should be allowed.

I’m going to say first if they are allowed they should be closely watched because there are certain members of these forums that are dead set on an Idea and will flame troll or whatever to kill an idea and really it is a sad thing.

Now onto my reasoning Topics such as The Gap and Skins or Buffs?(deleted topic about Founder Duel Master Armor idea) are both shining examples of topics that got massive backing from the community itself on issues that at the time of posting were major things in the community. Let’s start with Skins or Buffs? because The Gap is still on the forums for all to read, it was a topic about a new solution to an old problem of what happens to FDMA once it got outdated. The topic itself got to nine pages with minimal flames here and there by people who were dead set on getting a buff until page eight. Page eight marked a turning point in which two strongly willed individuals met and went back and fourth getting the topic locked on page nine but besides those two it was a very productive topic in which a handful of AK's posted and Cindy herself posted on the topic which for this forums I guess you can call a very productive topic.

Now onto exhibit B which is The Gap it was a six page topic prematurely locked due to rule changes but this was by far the most mature topic we have ever had. It started out with some people who find F2P's as free wins and were dead set against changing that which is again what I said about forumers and ideologies which are not good for this happy go lucky community you are trying to make. It was a solid six pages of both sides of the argument for and against shrinking the gap minimal if any flaming once the ball got rolling showing this was an idea the community was dead set on fixing. We had users such as Faust with his very well written walls of text arguing his point with words and you had users, such as myself, doing all the number work on ideas that popped up once or many times over such as normal power gap with and without enhancements.

All in all if we can get more Balance discussion like what was in "The Gap" or "Skins or Buffs?" without the 10% trolling or flaming the idea to death simply because they do not agree with said idea balance discussion in ED would be incredibly productive both in our minds and to the Devs.

Well thank you for explaining the situation.

I agree that some players do need to work on their attitude towards others and there has been flaming but if you had played ED for a bit longer you'd understand we are all very close.It's a small community but a big family,we all know each other and we can work together.

New rules do seem a bit harsh,mostly cause it was unexpected.Many topics got deleted in the matter of seconds and people didn't understand why.But considering this topic and how the community calmed down a bit now,I think it will all work out fine.It will just take some time to get used to.

As for the balance thread,I believe it's not organised enough.There are many,many types of balance in this game and placing them all in that one thread makes it look like you don't really care.We cannot find our way around it,we cannot find what we are looking for easily and we cannot discuss them.If we cannot do that,neither can mods.
For example,if one post is about class balance and the next one about weapons balance,If I choose to discuss one,the other one will fade.
Some balance issues are big and require their own section.They cannot all be put together if they are not related.

Also about The Gap thread,it was in my opinion one of the most mature and civilized discussions in a long time.There was no flaming,in fact both of the sides were discussing the topic,coming together.It was most certainly not var vs non var,it wouldn't lead to flaming.

We know who flames, who gives positive ideas and such, we are like a family like callisto said, every single forumer in EDF always have a really great idea and they post it in here, and they receive awesome suggestion but also flamming but that's normal. You should check feature suggestions I always read them once a month and new forumers post on it and give ideas I haven't think of, we need opinions from all perspectives to progress in forums and same in game.

I've something to add, great minds don't think the same, they have different perspectives and make an idea about their thoughts but it's not the same but it serves the same purpose.

The GAP thread was locked due to restrictions on var vs nonvar discussions, but is being permitted for the moment as it has thus far shown positive posting behavior.

I lost my train of though, well most of it, but I wanted to say that I understand and respect your philosophy on this.
I really welcome you, Barrius! Though, you earned some of my respect, it will take some time before i can call you Lord Barrius. ;)

Not to be rude, I never want to, if I ever do:
A) Because I really want to be heard , although normally I tend to add some suggestions after. So no worries here... :P

B) Not on my finest days / Really lost hope / some kind of confusing way to make "it work".

I don't really want to get on anyone's bad side here...

So i'd like to ask something: Could you pm me if I did something wrong before anything? Give a good explanation why? Not just say: OMG ITZ IN TEH RULES... HERE.. READ ET: (*insert quote here*) or come at me with cold words. We are all human here... no one is more than another just because of their "rank".

I guess I might be demanding too much, sorry if I am.

*high five, blink* Hey! welcome! I really hope we all get along here XD ... Most here are really concerned about the game being fun and equally balanced for everyone .. like everywhere else...

So....

Got a question... are we allowed to make jokes as long we are on topic?

Ah, Lord Barrius. I've had my suspicions that you were taking charge and it seems like I was right. :3

You know how I feel about you, LB. Although we have had our ''problems'', I still think you are awesome.
And, you are one of the few mods that I actually trust doing the things you promise. :)

BUT, on to the questions.

1) Wouldn't it be better to make a Balance Sub-Forum? Just like it's AQ counterpart? There were always mature reactions towards other people's ideas.
And if you don't ''trust'' some of the community with that, how about we do just like in the past with the Artistic section? AKA, you need to be approved to post there.

2) Whilst I disagree with alot of people here, SOME make a good point... Especially about the ''We get ignored'' part.
Though Cindy is someone I DO trust and believe she cares about us... Titan and Nightwraith are the ones I'm worried about... hey always stay positive on EVERYTHING... Whilst, if they'd actually read our posts, they would see that they just need more people for work on ED, and balance ideas also... Cindy forwards them, but have we seen a balance change that we actually suggested and as a community agreed on that that was balanced? NO. And what, we outnumber the test team by what, about 500/1? -.-;;

Congratulations on your promotion LB! And although some people may be judging these new rules harshly and not seeing how these changes will benefit us, I'm hoping that people will eventually come to understand that this was something we've needed for quite awhile to better our forum community for ourselves and future forumites.

Why are you talking about AQ not ED. You said nonthing about you and ED. Its really dum that Circe makes a AQ mod into a ED GD head mod. Un Called for. In your post it seems like you know nonthing about ED. Its a shame

If you want us to stop complaining then stop getting random mods to lock threads up. I don't even think Artix knows of this problem. He should make us happy by getting more devs!

 A balance sub-forum has been considered. It will depend on the desires of the balance team as to whether or not we will go with that. If they don't want a board, we won't have one. The balance thread is temporary until we've decided what will happen as far as this goes.



@Shadow Jester:

I'm talking about AQ because that's the game I work on.

My inexperience with ED is actually a good thing. People seem convinced that if I were an expert in ED, that would make me better at being able to moderate a forum. The odd logic behind that thought process aside, my inexperience with ED allows me to be completely unbiased in regards to discussions related to ED. You don't have to worry about me locking threads because "this is what the devs want", because I've got no idea what the devs want. Because I've got no direct relation to ED, I have no innate bias as I'm walking into this forum. I'm not going to say "no, founders should never get buffed evar" because I dunno anything about it, so it allows me to permit all sorts of conversations and help everyone's viewpoints get expressed.

And actually, Cindy thanked me for taking over for her, and I should explain why. I think she wants the very best for you all, but she was being torn between being able to do her job for you and make sure your complaints were heard....and having to regulate the forums for flaming, keep people from killing each other, etc. She couldn't do her thing to the best of her ability because forum duties were making that more difficult. Me taking over this board has freed her up, in a sense, to keep doing what she loves to do: helping get your voices heard and acting as the go-between for you and the devs.

And, again, I really don't care if people don't like me. That's perfectly fine. All I particularly care about is fixing things up to the point where I don't have to worry about any more flaming and nastiness. I'd like to see you guys get back to being a strong community, rather than fighting with each other whenever something changes or goes wrong. The reaction to my introduction, alone, PROVES that the community here has been fractured over time, and it's time to start fixing those cracks before they become too big to fix.

Cinderella is the one who is being blamed. She shouldn't be. Your just making us more immature and flame more. Your perma banned Gold. Its time for a change.
Your really burning ED GD down in flames. We want cindy back because she said more detailed posts about a update or whatever.
Whats with you being here if your not going to discuss with us about the problems and such. Its such a shame. Really. I don't see no fun anymore.
