I have noticed in my buddy list that people change name.

Unfortunately I do not always know who has changed, so I delete them.
How are we to know who they were before the change?
what do you think we could do about this.
Have you ever been deleted because of name change?

I know this is not a huge problem but still...........

Please discuss and who know, we may be able to come up with an idea that we could put into the suggestions thread.

No flaming or trolling please.

I suggest that a popup message appears saying that "(blank) changed his/her name to (blank)!" and it would popup like on your next 5-10 logins so you really know.

Or, in your buddies list, it says

(blank1) -> (blank2)

Blank1 was original name, blank2 is new name.

@Joe yeah that would be great but they should put it on the Character Page, maybe below their name.

For example:

Name2

Previous name: Name1

@ FAY Why don't you just jump to the player you don't reconize in your buddy list and ask who he/she is ?

I don't understand why deleting people in your buddy list just because of a name change.. just simply ask. You can't be that busy ;)


@Down: Then you wait until they are on. How is that a problem ?

I tried. I went there, waited ages but they were afk.

I like runescape's system. When someone has changed name recently, their old name is displayed next to their new name so that you can see who this friend actually is. I don't know the specifics of how it works, but it could be adopted by ED; the person's old name could be displayed in the buddy list next to their current name. Not sure if they can make the fonts the right size for this to make both names legible.

Hover over a name for a few seconds, and another window will pop-up showing the player's previous name (; easy as that!

but... i know the Dev's will say... "coding, coding, coding!"

Its a huge problem Fay , i want to change my name but just because nobody will know who i am , i dont change :S

My solution is having our old name in "( ) " for atleast a month , like XXXXX (TurkishIncubus) , this should be an optinal feautre for the players want to be recognized.

Cmon Devs i want to spent Varium XD

And you should also see their last login, i hate it when i delete a friend to find out hes VERY active and his buddy lists are full after that.

 pretty much my entire buddy list has changed names(thats 30 people) so i have no clue who is who and most are inactive and dont use the forums/fan forums so im sunk

The problem with alerts is that they are temp. Also what if several players name changed since you last logged in, you will be hit with a bunch of pop ups and not much time to take it all in. The roll over is an OK idea but what about those players with many different name changes? How many should be shown? Are we suggesting that 20+ names pop up every time I roll my mouse over a players name? I wonder what would happen to the servers if we all started doing that at once? They have trouble now just running the game.

If i change my name to XXXX than it will be XXXX (TurkishIncubus) , then if i change to ZZZZ than it will be ZZZZ (XXXX) . Simply the name before we changed will be in "( )"

Yes... actually with my last name change i went from 25 buddies to 10 within an hour.

yes, i've deleted at least 2 people who'se names i didn't recoglize

a popup that appeared when you logged in would be wonderful.

also, speaking of name change, the system still needs a revamp (lowering of cost, and a credit feature)

I have no problem with posting the last name you had next to your new name. Seems like another programing issue and something that should be posted in the suggestions forum. Good suggestion.

Here's a suggestion:
It'd be cool to have a sidebar pop out beside the player's name when you click on their name. The sidebar would look something like this:
Name (Previous name, if any)
Level
Current Server (if none, offline)
Faction

@ I Agree With Latin.

An 'Alias' List On The Character Page Would Be A Nice Touch And Helpful.

Some Of Us Have Spent Alot Of Money (Varium) On Name Changes. It Would Be Cool To Have Our "Other" Names Listed Since Name Change Is A "Premium Service".

I agree Fay that it is too hard to keep up with name changes. Its not a high priority for me to remember everyone's name change.

I have very few active friends now on my friend list but occasionally I log in and see someone has changed their name and they are not online so I rarely get to ask them who they are.

When name changes were first introduced it just confused the heck out of me. I could not keep up with them all. So I would wait for them to PM me to ask them who they were.

It would be great to have some reference to know who they are.

 nope nothing should be done about this otherwise it wouldn't be called master of disguise and no one will change name due to ev1 knowing that he did s0 their is no purpose of changing name anymore if ev1 will recognize your old name :)
