you can do alot more with 25 energy than u think if its some tac merc they could use smoke, stun or doublestrike, heal, and even posion u and thats not helpfull and this is exactly wut u get from mages too except they can heal, malf, or use bloodgeon. bottom line is that it needs to be buffed in some way becuase in most cases it will fail.

Well, u do realise that Assimilation also gives u half the energy u drain to ur own energy pool, but yes, i do agree that assimilation isnt very useful against people who can regain their energy, but it is still a fine piece of skill.

the numbers I used in the example were completely meaningless. just got bored with so many saying you give more energy than you take and saying assimilation is pointless.
also when you suggest an alternative solution people ignore you completely and repeat what the last guy said. why make a topic if only one opinion is relevant.

go post it in the suggestions section.

to me the issue is more with heal loop tac mercs than anything else, and my advice is be patient and see how the field medic change works out, plus the future plans for support
and tac mercs in general. assimilation is amazing ability. you wanna downplay it because you can't beat a heal loop tac merc, fine. I will judge it on its actual merits in combat.
