Cindy don't you think a faction founder cheevo would spur the same discussions? Since it would maybe make people leave their current factions to make their own for a perk like that? We are trying to keep factions united and loyal not break them apart each week!

I Am Speaking On Behalf Of ALL Faction Founders.

Angels Holocaust, VIX, Elf Priest Jzaanu, Smackie El Frog, Basicball, GUAP, SavageScream, Fay Beee, Etc... Just To Name A Few.

Not To Mention, Many Of Our Top Officers Who Have So Many Wins/Tokens Invested In Our Factions.

Not Giving Us The "Option" To Do Both Missions And Get Both Achievements, Is A Bit Short Sighted In My Opinion.

I Think It Was A Great Idea In Concept... But Poorly Executed In Game.

I Know You Don't Want To Give "Special" Treatment To Your Games Best Players And Top Customers... But Most Of Us Are Faction Founders Or Long Time Officers, We Have Invested In Our Factions...

I Think It's Long Overdue, That Faction Founders In Level 11-12 Factions Get Some Serious Respect And Consideration Is All.

We Help DRIVE The War, Run The Flags, Provide The Motivation And Time For Most Of The Daily Leaderboards.

This PUNISHES Us For Doing That. It May Only Be Some 1,000 Point Achievement... But We Have No Chance To Get It.

Please Understand That, Many Of Us Are Upset And Confused As To Why And How That Could Happen.

I Also Agree With Basicball. I Like Cool And Unique Achievements... I'd Be Upset If You Simply Created Another One "Turncoat" That I Could Not Get... Even If It's -1,000 Points.

That Makes No Sense.

And On A Final Note, Yes... Having My Players Leave To Get An Achievement Or Join To Use My Faction To Get It... Is A "Concern".

 @Buffy This is a war, not something where you can help either side if you feel like it. If you want both achievements then you will have to sacrifice your standing in a faction to switch sides. Why on earth would you suggest letting Legion or Exile players get an achievement saying they supported the enemy side? That sort of thing will lower the recruitment chances of getting into a faction who is extremely active and loyal in wars like these.

Well I've already proposed some pretty decent solutions for the achievement issue.

As for the mission issue I wouldn't worry bout it too much, there's a good chance that as missions in the game increase (and eventually get into the hundreds/thousands), they will be removed from character pages anyway (due to taking up too much space). Collecting them might turn out to be pointless in the future, so I'd suggest not worrying bout them too much. Also there really is no easy way for players to tell if you have all of the missions or not, and I doubt anyone will go through the trouble of reading the wiki just to check.

But in this world, there are only TWO allegiances. Unfortunately for many of you. Two only. You cannot simply decide to join opposing sides whenever you feel like.

 @Buffy- the point of having alignment is that you do have to sacrifice not having the other side's toys. In AQW, you can be rank 10 good and rank 10 evil simultaneously, and get all the toys. The alignment means nothing, even in the context of the game. That always bothered me, because aligning yourself with one faction does mean that you can't have the benefits from the other side, but it also means that the benefits unique to you are unique to you. And there are consequences to switching. Since the game engine limits what we can do, a solution that we can do is to remove those specific achievements.

I didn't want anyone to have the "option" of getting both achievements. So the solution to that would be to remove them both from the players who did manage to get both.

We also figured that it would take most players forever to even get ONE of the Kill 100X cheevos- it took us forever and on the developer server we can go through missions pretty quickly.

@Basicball- the mechanics of the missions are the same on both sides.

@The Forumers: I'm a loyal officer in my faction but I'm against all of you. The idea of getting both achievement is pathetic for me, Why having a legion helper achievement if you're exile? I just would like that the achievement should be the same, an achievement for participating in war, to be one of the few players who will have the achievement, the ones who completed the missions, reached the higher ranks, fought harshly until the end, why would I want free rating?I don't like achievements that are earned by free, but by effort. That's my opinion.

@Cinderella: You shouldn't accept those kind of replies, they're hurtful and I think one of those posts hurted your feelings. Nobody is perfect so any mistakes should be accepted, we can't handle the issues you can so we shouldn't criticize your work.


Why don't try to understand the Devs?
Is that hard to do it? That is the crap of the world, nobody wants to meet some new person and know how they feel, money and pleasure is the first priority in this world, that is why we are falling so deep, even the coldest, the meanest person has feelings so why the Devs which care for us shouldn't have feelings? Can someone answer me? Why hurt their feelings if that won't help?

 Now, I've read over all this, and I'm pretty sure the entire topic and thread is about how you can't get 1,000 rating points, but most concerning (from the Buffy side, and the Faction Founder side) is being afraid your factioners will leave to get said achievement?

In all honesty, it's one achievement? The aspect of EpicDuel, and factions, does not revolve around one achievement. However, I do see from the larger factions like Buffy's and VIX's, that they are concerned about their faction.

In retrospect, anyone who goes for both achievements probably isn't into the purpose of factions, and the meaning behind them.

Keyword is probably.

Now in terms of how the factioners can leave the faction then just rejoin, get both achievements and essentially gain a better "rating" than the founders.

I could be wrong on this entire thing, but from my understanding basically the faction leaders are afraid they will lose their members? That is indeed something to be afraid of.

In my opinion, anyone who leaves probably never or wanted to be involved with factions to begin with.

 Well it doesn't matter because there will be 2 achievement and best founder can hope for is that your member stay if they leave it ment that there were never loyal and true test to there loyalty.

 @Practel You forgot the simple fact that large factions like VIX's and Buffy's are the ones that gain most new members because most players will dive headfirst into getting a chance for getting into powerful and well known factions.

But just because they didn't really care for the faction or the idea of factions doesn't mean us faction founders don't feel hurt for them leaving. Especially for just a 1,000 rating cheevo. That just the pits. I agree take them out of the game. Its already creating so much upset.

@ Cindy

Didn't take me long at all and I killed fenris those 100 times with a 4 turn TLM build. Its points like that, that makes the community second guess these testers that have been chosen...

@ ND

I wouldn't go that far for all those types of factions. We here at The Evil Council just don't let anyone join. I'm sure others are just as exclusive at times.

@ND again.

Are you just trying to flame people? I'm sure a build similar to mine without varium can still take down fenris quiet quickly. Also, arent TLM nuked a bit in power? Why you hating on this class still when we just got our skill tree ravaged?!

well, for me personally, it's more about being able to complete the game 100%.
since i have done all missions so far, but don't have all cheevo's, the missions are more important to me -personally-

WM gives the decent arguement about missions being removed from char pages in the future (if there are loads more). True, this will most likely happen, and thus the completed missions would be less important. although i do hope theres still some way to se them then (maybe in-game, and only for yourself?) anyway, let's just pray for that when the time is there.
What won't go away, is the satisfaction of having a perfect record. the feel-good effect that it has is, for some people, pretty big. basically, that's why this is so :s to me.

now, the idea popped in my head, that maybe (if the engine permits it), there could be a 'colaborate' option no, make it a 'spy' option, tht way, you still 'work' for the same allignment if you reach a certain amount of war points, like 25K or something like that. this would allow you to do the other missions without swiching sides

right, it's 05:17 AM, i'm off to bed, and i'll be back tomorrow with a fresh view on the matter

 Well this what I will say if your founder and see players just leaving faction to get both achievement you should not let them join. I can't stress this enough if all you founder stick together by not letting faction jumper to join.

Spy options sounds great also!

Maybe input a sabotage mission or an option at a price or even something that is earned with war points as basic suggested.

TO ALL FACTION FOUNDERS:

Do not accept new members who want to join your faction simply for access to the other sides missions. They will leave your faction once they feel they have nothing more to gain.

@Basicball: Technically if you missed some achievements you wont be able to get 100% anyway bro. :P

With that said, you have to understand that an MMO is not like a game with a definitive beginning and end, it is impossible to get "100%", due to the fact that it doesn't really "End". Think of it this way, how can you 100% a game based on wins like this one? Max out your wins? Is there even a win cap? If there is it would take decades to achieve it, so if your a completionist (like I am actually), then you must understand that a game like this can never be fully completed. Therefor a 100% perfect and complete game can never be achieved by anyone.

Cindy, if you don't mind .. please take these achievements out. The only other possible solution I can think of .. apart from Jzaanu's suggestion .. is to give a special achievement that gives players a loyalty reward (1200 value) for remaining in their faction during the war.

This would help to curtail a tiny bit of the damage done.

While I understand that this was a topic of discussion amongst the staff I can only wonder why you guys chose to proceed.


Wiseman, it really doesn't help the issue by trying to trivialise the value of achievements. As you can see in posts above there is a lot of people who will do anything for extra achievements and I would classify yourself in that category (with all due respect).


Also Cindy, your comparison of the AQWorld battle of Good and Evil as totally irrelevant to this game. Firstly, in AQWorld we had to pay a hefty amount of gold to change our alignment. Secondly, AQWorld is not pivotal on factions/clans and their alignments.

Nuff said.
