No, communities do not always get along all the time, but the ones that prosper the most in life usually do. If you work in a company, and you don't get on with someone, then all that is going to do is cause more and more problems. If you play for a football/soccer team, and you don't get on with a fellow player, then the chemistry of the team will fall because of that. These examples are just a few of the many out there, you may read them and feel they don't relate at all, but I feel that they do. In exactly the same way, if everyone doesn't act like a community, and people don't get along, people attack each other and insult each other. Then new people who join, will instantly feel an atmosphere, see what's going on, and leave. The Devs who you really want to return to this forum, won't return when they feel that if they do, you're just going to launch an all out attack on them, because that is how you treat people. I don't quite understand how some of you can stand up for the 'old ways', not getting on, insulting, flaming. What that is, is verging on, or even going in to the realm of cyber bullying. Launching personal attacks on people, for the joy of ones self, that's bullying. Telling people their opinions wrong, your's is right then forcing them in to submission using threats, insults and attacking them, that is bullying. Some of the things that have been happening in the discussions could easily be classed as bullying. If you're one of the people backing this behavior up, then I recommend that you just step back look at the situation, put your self in the other persons shoes (as Lord Barrius said), and think, about how that's going to make that person feel. If you think it's going to make them feel negative, then you know where the backspace key is. I think one thing my posts have highlighted are those in the community who won't change the way in which they think. A lot of the people who I've seen causing trouble in the past are giving it a good go. Many of them are now merging in, making great suggestions in correct manors which makes it so much easier for us. Those people deserve respect, and those people I thank. After reading this, though I'm guessing the people that this applies to will probably not bother to read this, if you feel the above applies to you, then stop. I'm probably guessing if it does apply to you, you'll deny this, but truth is, if you even feel a tiny bit defensive after that, then it probably does apply to you, and you know it. Have you ever seen a community, civilization or a team prosper on negativity? No. Have you ever seen Presidents, Prime Ministers, and other world leaders encourage fighting and war to make there country a better place? No. Authorities stop wars, fights, and trouble for a reason, they don't help. Fighting, arguing and insulting does not fix any thing what so ever. So before you start saying this isn't fair, you are one of the few who don't understand why this has to happen. You are probably one of the few who don't have the respect or drive to read the posts explaining why. For this reason I have no sympathy, because to make this community a better place, is your choice, not mine, not the rest of the staff, but yours. You are holding the whole community back, because most of the problems, flaming etc. has stopped, but still the same few people, have continued, and made it extremely clear that they are not bothered. Now that's an insult to everyone in this community, because it's telling them, that you do not care about them. It's like that situation at school where a teacher punishes the whole class because of one/a few child's/children's behavior. This time though, it isn't exactly the staff punishing you, it's you punishing your selves. This doesn't apply to the majority of people now, and I'd like to thank everyone for putting in the effort required to make things work better, I think everyone will agree that apart from a small minority, things are starting to look much better. I am enjoying looking through suggestions once again, I've already moved quite a few over to the suggestion doc, and will be discussing some of them with other staff members later!
