In my opinion, the reason many seasoned players stick and play ED so much is due to the battle record and leaderboards. These facets of the game are unbelievably ingenious. You don't get a single thing besides tons of wasted time and the acknowledgement of people you don't know in real life, but the tick of a number per win motivates thousands of people to pay and play. It's not the battle system that keeps people playing because there are so many aspects of it that simply irritate people and after getting a decent build, so much of the game is luck and simple move timing nor is it the PvP competition because so many people do NPCs (just to get these nonexistant wins up, this is why I do 2v2). It's the freaking battle record and people's unusual desire to have a high number that keeps this game going. How many of you would be motivated to play (maybe you would occasionally, but I mean frequently) if your wins were not counted in a little box in the corner? I am just at awe at how such a simple feature could make all the difference. What are your thoughts on this?
