Enough, is enough. I've had enough of all the scammers, and hackers. I believe it's time we have a major reporting system overhaul.

I came across a nonvar, asking people for their cellphone numbers to "give" them artix points. He then proceeded to flame me, telling me his "Ice Crusher" was a varium wep. Every player in the room reported him.

Still, lots of people scam. What can we do to stop this?

1. Guy is asking for personal information which is against the rules.
2. Is offering free varium in exchange for that info, also against the rules.

Not really a rule but it gets annoying if some guy is using your number to get varium and you keep getting confirmation texts repeatedly.

I don't think we really need to fix this. Anyone who is stupid enough to give in to these scams deserve it.

Well mods are one of reason why scammer are being here they feel like they should get second chance. I remember once I report scammer asking for my user and password. So I took sceen shot of proff of him try scam me. So 2 weeks later I see same guy back in game by then Im really piss off. So I ask cindy at time when she was mod why give that guy second chance he try scam me. She said we give people second chance.

Get over it, only morons fall for such banal tricks. Is it really that hard to ignore these guys? Just take a look at the majority scammers, there all non vairums? If they really have varium, they wouldn't be non variums. Just use common sense, and you'll be fine.

Inconceivable!

The in-game report system is far from ideal, but if you want a quick response to scammer, just take a screenshot of them asking for your account info and send it to The Lawman or myself through a private message. I receive emails about private messages, so I will deal with reports within a few hours at most.

Ignoring scammers only encourages their behavior. You may know better than to fall for their tricks, but many naive younger players will fall victim to them. If you see someone trying to scam another player, please do the whole community a favor and report it. I'll be glad to ban them if they are here just to harass our players.

Why not IP ban since its danger to have them going again scamming players.

@Mir: We only IP ban players if they have done something beyond bad. If we find someone who does get banned for scamming, then creates another account and starts doing on there, then does it each time we ban them, then yes, may be that is the time IP Bans can be used, but IP Bans are extreme, so we prefer not to use them when possible, only when the situation calls for it.

IP banning can create all sorts of problems. First, many people have dynamic IPs which change on a regular basis. Quite a few ISPs use a pool of shared IPs, so if one IP is banned, then the next week, the banned player will have a new IP, and another player could potentially find his IP banned from EpicDuel.

It's also not feasible to block IPs from many places, such as college campuses where an IP ban could affect the whole campus. IP bans can easily catch innocent players by mistake, and they are also very easy to get around. IP bans are only reserved for the most extreme cases.

If someone is making alternative accounts just for the purpose of scamming, it's not hard to tell and they will be banned without a second chance on these alts.

So what Im takings out this that ED people aren't safe at all for example If I hack ED you would just ban me then I create new account join faction try scam players again then you ban me again. I do same thing over amd over again because Im using school computers. It would alot better if just fine hackers/ scammers for time its wasting.

The best punishment is this: Sell all the player's(who is the scammer) items and empty the credits and varium to zero and at the same time permaban the account. Constant warnings isn't gonna help nowadays.

If so, then just permaban and empty the credits and varium anyway. Some low level players can have 10k varium that they will use until they reach level 30+.

Alot of people seem to think that "if you fall for it, you deserve it".

But I would like to point out that there are many seriosly smart scammers out thier.

I know a scammer that actes like a freind for a month,
And the person instead of asking for info made sugestions to make the person do it on there own will.

For example the person would constantly sugest that their lower level founder is such a low level and that they wish they could level it up easily, Making the scammie want to say "hey, I will level it up" then to their suprise the account will work they will be on a lower level founder and the scammer would of earnt you trust , dun dun duh!!!

One of my friends was scammed by him and to my suprise the same guy was on my buddy list trying to earn my trust slowly.

Aparntly he was known to have scammed many account.

So to those he think people get scammed are stupid, think again it could happen to anyone.

Best way to aviode it is NEVER TRUST ANYONE.
If you dont belive you could fall for scams, think of this example:
Picture your best ED friend, Now imagine if they were secertly trying to scam you but first were trying to earn your trust.
Would you trust them?

Exactly, its scary stuff.

Hopefully the thought of being banned for account sharing is enough to scare most people into not falling for some deadly scams.

Be wise, dont trust ANYONE! And dont break the rules xD
Remorse Less.

I have some really good friends on here that I do trust.
BUT
I have my rules, from which I NEVER waver.
I NEVER give out ANY personal information.
Yea they know which country I come from and that I have dogs. But not my total real name, or anything else of importance.
Better to be safe than sorry.

The only way I've seen to get hackers, scammers etc. insta-banned is by taking a screenshot then PM it to The Lawman here on AEF. The in-game report "system" aint much of use... Yet there will always, be hackers and scammers in the cyber-world. Its just a part of it now adays.
