Epic Duel is a very fun game to play by yourself or with a friend. By yourself you can do what you want, engage in most game features, and not have to worry about helping out your buddies. With friends, you can do 2v1 Bosses, coordinate a faction, and get help from your buddies. I was wondering how important people think having buddies in Epic Duel is and whether more features should revolve around that.

Here is my little input:

I have never sent a friend request nor kept a friend for more than a few days until this post. If I was sent a friend request I would accept it, chat a bit, help out if need be, and then delete them as soon as they were offline. It was simply not worth the time. Who wants to chat around if you could be getting valuable wins for that next weapon or level? In addition, battling and chatting is very hard to do.

However, I have recently watched a few youtube videos on MMORPGs (I think that is what Epic Duel is considered) and have decided for myself that having buddies in these games is very important to maximize gameplay. The main battle system in Epic Duel is built around PvP and the only way to get a successful faction is if you have members you can communicate with. A friend could point out a flaw in your build or strategy that helps you win more games. A buddy will help out your faction so you can be competitive. Most importantly, a friend will make the game so much more fun.

I and many others are what many call unhealthy gamers. This means playing simply for the glee in killing virtual people, being dominant, and losing valuable time in life if done to much. Studies show that this can cause increases in aggression and loss of social skills if done to often. Battling with a friend helps you focus less on the killing part and more on the winning part and/or the conversation you are having. If you battle when your friends are online and get offline when they get offline, this would help you get more sleep and do important things if you are an addict like me (has trouble getting to bed when not keeping track of time on Epic Duel and often finds homework not getting done).

Right now many would agree the community is not as optimal is it could be. This happens when people let out their anger on other players. The more you battle, the more annoying things happen. This can be being unlucky, playing against OP (over powered) players, and just down right losing. If you do not have an empathetic friend to vent your frustration on or help you focus less on the winning part this can build up into a negative community member. All MMORPGs have this problem, and as the community gains put-down players the negativity grows. A more social community will make these put-down players have a harder time spreading and possible even sympathize with them so they can join the positive community.

This is all great reasons to have buddies, and luckily you can already do that in Epic Duel! I just would like to see more features around this like expanding on 2v1 ally link, adding more buddy slots, and making factions more enticing. A tutorial could exist that emphasizes on and encourages beginners to get buddies for help. If buddies were to become a main part of Epic Duel it would mean a more positive community, larger player base, and a brighter future.

At the end of the day how much does all your wins, achievements, and stars matter if you have no one to show?

For me experience with friends is rather important than winning the match. They are my morale boosters and without them, I'll be just a wimpy noob being criticized by other players.

This is eaxclty why I like to hang at oz W7,

Its good to ctach up with people and to actuly reconise each other as frequent players and say "hello" not to someone new rather an associate.

But I have to admit, I would play the game ALOT less without my freinds which is often the part which makes the game addicting to me.

Agreed. ED is a very addicting game no matter how bad it gets something just keeps making me want to play it more and more. But don't forget their will always be trolls that will always try to tear the community to shreds, and put everyone down. But overall I agree.

Beep Beep! ArchKnight AQ / ED

Friends in game is actually one of the main reasons i play. If i had no body to fight with, converse with etc, it would be a really different and possibly less interesting gaming experience without someone there with you at times of need. Now as Remorse mentioned, OZ world 7 which is always full of people who are friendly, up for a chat whether it's general gameplay, builds, bosses etc. You name it, it's being discussed .

It must have been a good year or so since i started before i actually obtained a decent number of friends on my buddy list, as i was not the most sociably active player then, and would keep to my self whatever i was doing at the time. But then i gradually gained more confidence in the interaction side of ED which (if this does not sound odd) has helped a great deal and i am totally a different person to who i was back then.

Everyone needs friends, one time or another :)

I kinda lost touch with my friends, either through them having lack of interest of just floating a part. I myself have floated away from this game. I'd love to get a group of friends on my buddy list but after a while you lose touch with a community.

Friends are vital. And we have an international community, so even better.
I have made some very good friends here. Great to talk to, discuss builds etc. (like Digi said ) and to rant to if you are having a bad day. lol

I think life is very hard for most people, so to me it is good to have friends (even if it is only 'on-line')

And Mir - I am your friend here :)

thnx for spotting my typo 'CP' lol although it could have been made mad (hehehe)

ED friends are good but I always try avoiding talking about ED. When Im off forums Im completely opposite of what Im like forums. I use forums express my anger towards game and how been run. When Im batting I never whine or complain because that doesn't help me with battles or just having chat with ED friends. In real life Im shy and quite and rarely wanna go out so basically Im lonner Im fine with that . What makes me wanna play ED is one the friends sort of don't care about community since I think its wired to think of this community. Two battles in ED but I kind of don't battle for personal reason yes I have other accounts were you wouldn't even know.

Constructive!

This game's strength, by far, it is community. Friends is a generic term, but when we view all categories from, peers, role-models, heros, villains, competitors, friendships and kinships, it is our community. With the progression of this game, and Epic Duel continuing to add more communal building blocks within the realm of a competing community, all of these various bonds of our community will continue to advance.

Quite sadly, the game has gone into an insane asylum of random people saying "add me admin 11 naow pls pls pls" which completely makes "friends" useless.

And why do I have to pay for friends?

I'm going to agree with you. Although I really do get along with some of the players in ED, I simply don't trouble myself and them with chatting and whatnot. If need be we'll fight a 2v1 boss or something of the sort, but otherwise, it's not exactly at the top of the list for priorities.

Friends feature needs:

A diary to record the most recent chats you have had.

Why?

Capture scam artists, remember dates they are gone for vacation and assorted, plan events.

most of the ppl who request me just ask for varium or try to get my password etc... i would love to have friend on here and have chatted to a few decent ppl... but i dont bother requesting ppl coz i feel they have the same problems with it as i do and probably wont accept it...

also because so many of the people who play this game are half my age its a tad strange for me to talk to them... although i would love some buddies on here i fear it impossible... for me any way...

@below: lol ure a crack up man thats gr8 hahaha and so true, well all but the stop playing the game part :P thatle never happen, i find no matter what other game im playing while im doing so all i wana do is play this game instead... friends or not, but would make it a tad better i think... just wished i was a beta or something lol that might help XP

I'll be ur fwend if you like :P I am 29

jokes aside, no I won't be your friend.

lol just kidding. my only friend is really WhiteTigerAE who is an admin for the wiki, but secretly I think he finds me annoying lol.
I realised after many years that you grow apart from online gaming friends soon after you stop playing the same game and you
go on and make new friends. I am sure some here will protest and say they have made friends for life, but its BS I promise you

I agree that having friends in any MMORPG is a vital aspect to an enjoyable gaming experience and even more if you can use your friend network to battle alongside you.

That aspect is lacking somewhat in ED.

Whilst I am not a "chatty" person in ED or any other MMORPG, I love having a friend or two to with me while I battle as it does take away the anxiety of getting the kill. When you have friends with you the focus is more on getting a win and being able to celebrate together. I agree with you on that aspect Sunguardian.

However, the focus should not just be on selecting friends to battle with you but having a team of 3 or 4 random players that need to work as a team is a wonderful way to make new friends.

Perhaps as EpicDuel progresses with new features we may get closer to having more of a community facet.

Bah

Who needs friends... (Points to ED's mostly anti-social and condescending in-game community)

:P
