I am wondering what they will do when ALL are full up.
Will they extend all worlds?
Would that cause lag?
Will they produce another one (even if temporary)?

And no flaming or trolling please, just discussions and debates. :) Thank you

This the the third weekend in a row that the servers have come so dangerously close to max capacity. Perhaps it's time for AE to upgrade Epicduel to full sized, AQW style servers?

I think that their # 1 concern would be to produce another server.

If they could extend the threshold of each server, I'm sure they would. Have servers ever been above 800-900 before?

That sounds great, maybe they can restore servers to that amount.

They decreased server size as a way to counter lag so maybe bringing then back up to 1K would not be the best Idea but it would add the same amount as bringing in another server if the size was bumped to around 1.1K.

So increasing the server size from 900 to 1,100 would be like adding a new server(adding 800 more slots) possibly without the increased cost, buying and maintaining the new server, but it could lead to an increase of lag. Well at least the Dev's have multiple options on what they want to do.

if they increase the size of the servers will be back to lots lag like we used to have and it was very bad

It's interesting, sometimes there is only like 700 players on epic and sometimes it's like this.

If Titan opens up his computer hardrive, he will find a colony of bugs nesting along the circuit boards and riding buses.

Computer joke.

I agree, expanding the existing servers to being able to hold 1,000 or more players is a bad idea. It would create a ton of lag. It would be a much better idea to spend a tiny fraction of all the cash they've collected off us and use to buy four brand new severs that can hold 1,500 players with the same amount of lag that the current servers have with a mere 800.

@rej
Funnily enough, Artix has that cash and ED Team gets share off it. So it's up to Artix if we get new servers/higher capacity (without lag) or not. 4 servers is overkill, if they could do it easily then they'd have done it ages ago but giving one server would be enough for now. We're closing to 4 full servers without lag, raising it by one is best and saves money over long run (having 8 servers, and only 4 full at most for now is bad move).

^That's why I meant REPLACE the current servers rather than adding 4 new ones. Hopefully with a boatload of strenuous coding, the old (current) ED servers could be converted for use in that knockoff of AQW that Nulgath is creating.

We would indeed have use of a new server or two!

I suspect free bikes and new missions account for the bulk of this. If they intend on keeping the servers full they better continue producing the new weekly content, expand the current missions and give free stuff out every week. Go a few weeks without new content and you will see empty servers again. I hope this is a valuable lesson for the DEVs.

@Spart I think this is the first free stuff in the three weekends it has been packed so maybe if they just keep rolling out content they will keep the servers packed

Valuable lesson or not, expanding is their only option.
Businesses to keep earning more and more profit need to expand because they attract more customers. If they won't expand yet add more stuff, they will lose profit on it as not everyone will be able to get it thus leaving people unsatisfied and turning away from it. Fact free PvP drops, missions, storyline, etc have all been done in past 3 weeks, it's a good sign for us and for them that it's time to expand servers/buy new ones while maintaining same level of customer's satisfaction and making it go up.
So that lesson is a good one, more players = more profit. More profit = more servers. More servers = more players. Basically we'll be going in circles but have more money, be able to hire more staff and get more work done quickly which will improve the above. :D

One thing i always wonder is how much of the total amount of connected players actually duel versus the ones just hanging

@ Sparticus.

Free sutff and missions, IMO is only enough to make someone excited 1-2 days max.

So the servers are full for the one release day which is great,

But it is unusual that these numbers are hardly sustained at all....

I think if they wanna make the numbers sustained they need to improve the actual core of the game so that people are happy to play even when there isnt new stuff.

This involves things like PVP features which is why I think the drops are GREAT but they should also look more into balance, (Yes, I dont stop nagging until they do it)
