Solus. His name is Solus. Solus the Promise. Solus the Ascendant. Solus the Keeper. Not much is know about how Solus came to be, except the fact that he was once a mere mortal man, but that had been immemorably long ago. The present Solus is a vampire, or rather, a neo-vampire, that had pledged his loyalty, an unending one at that, and surrendered his undying soul to his fallen Master. His infamous name is spoken in the faintest whispers throughout Lore, for mere mention of it alone invokes the corrupt, malign power he holds. In ages past, Solus has laid waste to nations, shattered armies and slain men and women of great influence. He quite relishes the acknowledgement of his heinous deeds. All of Lore fears him, bar one man, if that word still describes the malevolent Dage the Evil, the great Dark Lord of the Undead Legion. It is only right for Solus, immortal Solus, to be feared, for he alone has the gift, the boon, the favor of his undying Master. He is fear incarnate, the walking death, the greatest agent of darkness. He is the sword, the will made manifest, the most trusted servant of the Imprisoned One. His service, so impressive that it was without compare in the Legion, had earned him the privilege to hold the title of Keeper and bear the prized Legion Signet Ring, forged long ago by great Dage himself. This momentous event in the history of the Legion has come to become known as the Charge of Eternity, which bestowed upon Solus the duty of upholding the Oath, the 6 great laws, and the duty of enforcing the Dark lord's wishes, whatever they may be. That was when he became known as Solus the Right. The Right Hand. quote:
Note that the part above is meant to serve as a backstory of sorts. If it hasn't been implied well enough, the main character, Solus (whose name in latin means "the only" and quite conveniently happens to be an anagram of "souls"), is an ancient Legion Vampire and is the most trusted lieutenant of Lord Dage. Also note that this story isn't finished just yet. I'd be very thankful if anyone could help me evict the faults in the plot. The pairs of Shadeguard, the elite legionnaires charged with protecting the fortress, lining the corridor saluted the moment he passed them as he made his way to the Inner Sanctuary of the fortress. Solus had been informed to proceed there immediately upon his return, told that the summons came from the Dark Lord himself. The Vampire was rarely given to honor of having an audience such as this with the Evil One, only once in a thousand years or so. He stood before the Doors of Damnation, which was flanked by the two most senior members of the Shadeguard. They both carried spectral spears capable of utterly obliterating the soul of any mortal they strike, crossed and blocking the way forward. The two elites regarded Solus with eyes that burned like blue suns, their ghostly form flickering between invisibility and not. After what seemed like an eternity, the Shadeguard uncrossed their spears and hit their breast with their free arms, saluting Solus, and unlocked the doorway.
