Has anyone ever thought that EpicDuel is too hard. Everywhere I go, there are inexperienced players. I think it's the math that's making it difficult for the players. The adding and subtracting, to make matters worse we have a hidden unknown called focus, agility, and diminishing stats. There has to be some way for this game to dumb it down a little so that people can actually make decent builds. What do you think, let's get some ideas.

I think it would be a great idea to have a tutorial mode (a watchable video or interactive video that shows what does what E.g the map) when you first sign in. Just to give you the overview of the game.

Beep Beep! ArchKnight AQ / ED

At the start yes, it was hard, and pretty difficult to get a good grasp on what did what, when i was supposed to buy a new weapon and what would be better for me, let alone the stat side of things which i did not really pick upon well until quite like in the game (around level 28) It does take a lot of getting used to though, for example coming across a build you may have not fought many times, or ever in some cases you have to change the way you play according to how THEY play (if that makes sense?) But overtime your gain knowledge of how to deal with certain builds, some easy, some tough but in the end it can easily be solved by a little thinking prior to making your move as it is quite easy to think a skill/attack will do good, when in actual fact it does not.

In terms of difficulty starting out, AQ is much more difficult than ED. Most AQ players don't know of how to train stats until well over 50. Plus there's next to no info in-game about weapons aside from damage type and damage range until you buy it. The problem seems to be players aren't focusing on strategy when they first start out. If they did, many would be using the passives more instead of spamming high damage skills. A tutorial may help them somewhat but it won't make them think strategically about things.

-insert snide comment about how EpicDuel combat is easy and hiring experienced members to hold your hand through every concept-

But if you are suggesting an ingame tutorial then I am for the suggestion.

Is ED to difficult? Possibly considering its lacks any sort of tutorial and guidance in the beginning. I mean there is no regular program like other Pvp to help someone understand the starting game mechanics. How stats matter skills have requirements. We need some basic tutorial system.

Tutorial could be useful for new players, and so would the experienced players actually helping new ones out when they ask. The difficulty also comes from having to fight people 5 levels higher than you, especially when you get to fighting 34's. It's hard to actually learn when it's impossible to win to begin with. When it comes to the people with not enough energy for their build, or high tech and low dex on a multi bh, we just need to help them out when possible, no matter how easy it may seem to us. I don't know about you guys but when i first started playing this game, it took a long while before I realized you could click the level bubble to see their stats and skills which is a very helpful bit of info. Shoot give them a beginner area to go to for help and let us help them, I'd be down for doing that especially as a 2v2 player, I like my partner to have a clue :)

Yeah tutorial would be good. I had no idea how weapon stats worked till I reached like level 28 or so either. Always went for what looked cool and did lots of damage and then was super surprized when characters with lower damage weapons destroyed me. Didn't get really good till around delta, as in had a good grasp of strategy and build design. Hence the reason my first character became useless. wasted thousands of credits retraining till I figured it out.

@midnight: Not really, if they don't know how to play, it is possible to have that amount of losses, anyways dummying can't be done anymore.

And there's the conceited cockiness everybody has come to recognize. Anyways ED really needs to invest at least a small amount of time in the noobies. When I started out I was horrible, still am xD. But I met plenty of people along the way who were willing to help me. Without them I woulda been doomed. It was so nice back then.

Midnight, please do everyone a favor and get a brain.

I agree that ED needs tutorials explaining the core of the game. I see so many players running around without full gear and mediocore builds due to their insufficient knowledge on how the game should played.

@below

Sorry, will edit it right away. That would be my final reply to Mr Know It All Midnight Santa.

That's a bit harsh isn't it.
Anyway, a tutorial explaining basic stuff would be good.
Players need an understanding of stats, skills & offense and defense.

hmm well it is hard if u do not know much about the game and yes this game needs a better tutorial maybe links in game to the forums and some tutorial vid posted at youtube would help but we all know people do not bother clicking the tutorial button as to them it is a waste of time to click the tutorial button. so we need to force the tutorial on every new players no exiting the tutorial if u exit it u cant do pvp. a tutorial would certainly help new players and forcing them to do/ take part/ read the tutorial would be better.

Yeah , ED really does need a tutorial for beginners , even for non-newbies . I met a LVL 34 Full-Var , Full-Enhanced BM that which i pwned earlier by scoring 2 blocks ( ofc ) , whereas he thought Smoke only decreases Defense but it also increase my Block Rate / decreases his Connect Chance .

There is a "How to play" under support on the main page, but its very long and you have to read it. I think that a video would be much better, and maybe include a description of what all of the skills do.

I thought it was terrible in Beta every time I lost. When I was a bit younger, it was hard battling Varium people.

It is probably too hard for non varium users below level 30. The frost war at least had low level NPCs, but for the heartbreaker & easter bunny saga, you haf to fight level 30-31 NPCs and admin 11. The latest sagas are impossible for low levels.

There is actually talks of a tutorial being built, this includes multiple features that will allow players to get used to the game, including a special quest chain that tells them to do things that will prepare them. However, with quest chains only just being implemented and further work on the system needing to happen before that can all be followed through with, and also the fact that making the whole tutorial system would take a lot of time on top of that. It also wanted to wait until after the CS5 change over to allow easier implementation and less issues to pop up with it. With the upcoming war and the demand of Dev time for that, it'll be on hold for a bit longer, but be reassured we are aware of this issue, and we are slowly making progress on the tutorial front! :)

usually when strategy games are hard to understand at first, it means they are balanced.
that theory has been proven wrong though.

a tutorial would be nice for the newer players.
