The thread is "What is the most hated weapon in ED in your own opinion?"

This can mean the OPness of it, the UPness, the STATS, the overwhelming use of it, or whatever your mind seeks. No flaming, going off topic, or showing general stubborness. I will PM an AK if you ignore these rules ;).

I personally dislike the Dark Star. It is used by EVERYONE who is a strength abuser. I also hate the Cadens Wrath. Giving +24 to technology is ASKING for a caster abuser ;P

Cyber Shillelagh when this launched 2 turn mercs become even more OP, was horrible.

@khalidon5000: when the weapon was released, Maul-Berzerker builds were rife in 1v1 as it was 2 turn win if they stunned, and sometimes 2 turn win even if they didn't stun.
they did get nerfed not that long after but for awhile it was the weapon I feared seeing in battle the most.

Bionic battlegear, the club and staff looks awfull and stats are even worst... Biggest mistake of mine, to buy them. :/

bionic battlegear, all of them look horrible. the eye thing is the worst. not really useful, IMO.

The Bionic Battlegear is the right idea but the wrong stat placement. If it HAD to give Strength, make the secondary stat Dexterity. If it HAD to give Technology, make the secondary stat Support. Technology and Strength do not normally agree.

Strength is Primary and Sidearm damage while Technology is Resistance and deflections, not amazing synergy there.

My most hated weapon is the Martial Great Sword. I did not know that weapons could be that ugly! It also has, in my opinion, bad stats.

@Duel,

You can have 100% Strength, so an absolutely powerful Primary and Sidearm but without accuracy; 100% Technology, so an absolutely impenetrable Resistance and ranged mastery but without offense; 50% Strength and 50% Technology so 50% of what is already mentioned but without any pure mastery in close-combat.

We can never win.

yes, cyber shillelagh did spark more str mercs at the time.

but if u think about it, it had almost no difference in stats to frostbreaker.

Cyber require base support, and frost gave u stat support. (which would end up as the same support)

the only advantage cyber had was 1 stat and the 2% over the frostbreaker. (technically speaking)

@Depressed and others: problem with releasing items with "perfect" stat placement is the community just use them to make
abusive power builds and balance gets wrecked. so yes it would be nice but this issue is entirely the players fault, not the staff.

possibly going off topic?

I also fear Overkill while levelling, it always seems to do so much damage, combined with Smoke Screen.


@Goldslayer1: very true, but nonetheless, I never remember groaning the moment I saw my opponent had Frostbreaker

well, it made people mentally think that cyber was THE weapon for str merc.

but most weren't smart enough (atleast at the time when it came out) to realize frost breaker was basically the same thing.

EDIT: well except for the fact that frostbreaker also worked for other kinds of builds that weren't str.

 Caden's Curse
I was the only negative stat modifier weapon I ever used and it made primary and secondary weapon attacks worthless because of -5 strength

^ Since when did Caden's Curse decrease strength? I saw a blood mage berzerker with it a few months ago. (Back when they had berzerker)

I really do not like the dark varium blaster, because its the only primary/sidearm weapon in the game thats 35 damage!! You can't just put one of those out and make it limited rare, the people who got to it first get a huge advantage especially with deadly aim. -_-

 Ok lets make sure we are talking abotu the same weapon. Curse is the lv 24 version of Wrath.

Now back in beta and possibly a little bit into Gamma weapons could have negative modifiers but they were trashed later because the devs decided it was a bad idea

If I look at it with some objectivity and distance,I would have to say Frostbane.
Not only that weapon was waaaay to powerful for stage of game it was released,but also it started an avalanche of over-the-top-stat-amount in most future weapons.
Don't get me wrong,I adore that sword,but I think it made more harm than good.

I agree. Just in another way...I just got Dark Varium Blaster as a drop from PvP 2 minutes ago. I use an Energy Primary (Which I am not changing <.< >.>) and an Energy Aux (Eh, I'm waiting...) so this Gun is useless for me...Make a Physical Version >.<

By the way, I'd be happy to sell the broken version to you for 1,500 Credits :3
