On your member profile does 'Total Posts: ___ ' include posts which have been auto-purged?

It's just that I have seen people with 5 digit posts and it would be insane if they above is no.

Hm, does it actually? I was under the impression that it didn't, because I believe I used to have at least 3000. I think it refers to currently existing posts, and the reason that many game and/or forum team members are up in the high numbers despite them not appearing to be very active is because they have non-deleting posts in staff forums, stickies and 'pedia entries, etc (and for most of them, years of those posts building up). Others that are up there are just addicted, yep. :P

For an example beyond my dubious memory of my own number, look at two old, prolific AKs, Eternal Chaos and Dox Para. I know for a fact that those guys had at least a thousand posts each when they were active, so clearly their numbers have decreased through purges. What remains are in non-purging forums.

It does not. If it did, my post count would be quite a bit higher as I have one of the oldest active forum accounts, and post almost daily. Over the years, it has hovered right around what it is now without much change because I'm mainly active in the OOC which purges regularly.

Really? Because threads that I posted in when I had about 500 posts have disappeared, yet those posts haven't. Perhaps this changed at some point, from not counting to counting.

There could be several reasons for that.

1. The threads were archived elsewhere which would keep them in your count.

2. They haven't really disappeared. Changing the Display topics from last settings to "All Topics" on your favorite boards may reveal posts you've forgotten about. Also searching your posts with these settings may bring up a lot of your old posts.

3. Different boards may have different purge settings. I know the OOC purges regularly, and the posts drop off your post count. I've watched my count drop by as much as 300 at a time after purges.

It is possible that something has changed, but I haven't personally heard anything to that effect. If I find something out, I'll post it here if it doesn't get answered in the meantime.

If a post is deleted through either moderator action or through forum auto-purging, it effects your post count.

Keep in mind that if something you posted is moved to a place where you can't see it, it will have "disappeared" as far as your ability to see/find it is concerned, but not as far as your post count is concerned.

Awww I see, thanks everyone!

(For some reason I didn't get a New Messages yellow icon on this thread so that's why I missed out the replies until now.
