Well, I can understand since your Bio was already made prior to the setting, but it takes place in a cynical 17th-18th century version of our world where the steam engine was not replaced by fuel run engines. A world were people of the upper crust are wearing puffy and frilly clothes, pirates roam the seven seas on massive airships, and pretty much most of the known world is left unexplored and uninhabited. Anyway, thanks. 500 years feels a lot more plausible. @Glaisaurus The only way we can explain RD's technological superiority compared to the rest of the world is that they would be an isolated civilization that kept mostly to themselves. A super civilization of course is not a concept that's unheard of. Anyway, about Stein, he does mention of lost documents. It could be possible that all his inventions in the past were too beyond his time, like how Van Hellsin says that no one believed him, and the Mage Council sought to destroy any physical evidences of these findings.
