There is no single answer as to the length of a ban. We do have a set of guidelines we follow, but every ban is examined on a unique case-by-case basis, so there's no hard-and-fast "If you do X you will be banned for Y days" rule. More serious infractions, obviously, lead to longer bans then less serious ones. Likewise, if you do something extremely serious, you don't get a lesser ban because it's your first ban.
If you are ever banned (and let's all hope you aren't) you will receive an email from the moderator who banned you with the details of your ban, which will include the length of the ban and the process to go through if you wish to appeal. We don't share those details with anyone else except the person being banned; a forum ban is considered to be between the person who gets banned and the moderation staff and is not meant to be a subject of public discussion.
