Problem about "Fame"

As we all know, the purpose of "Fame" has been swerved by players of the Epicduel Community.. Here are some ways to or not to fix the problem:
Ways of how to remove Fame:

a) Delete the "Fame" button on character page from *Epicduel, in-game. To Character

b) "Fame" is only accessible through a unique link. One is sent to every email. This link will take you too the character page with the fame button.

c) If the person from in-game wishes to fan lets say 'Titan', they would have to go to a special search bar, located on the homepage of ED and search from there to the characters name.

a) Limit the amount of times an individual can fame others in a 24 hour period. Let's say 10 daily?

b) Include a Fame Request option in-game and give players the ability to ignore Fame Requests entirely or only from certain players. *Recommended

c) Block the expressions "f4f", "fame 4 fame", "fff", and any other possible combination from the Chat.

Problem solved! :)

Why do you want to remove Fame? (Give me your reason)
Do you hate this idea since you cannot do as good as those who enjoy Fames?
What will happen to the players who just play EpicDuel to get Fames?
What will you do to those players who worked hard to get their current Fame?

I expect you to answer them. I don't want to see a simple answer. If you don't, it proves that you are lazy and that you cannot answer open questions. I am not doing this for any particular reason but to see how you think to "discussions".

Nobody wants to remove fame, Drekon just said there should be a fame request option.

Nobody wants to remove the fame option we just want a fame request option which can be sent
once and we want mods to block expressions such as 'F4F' 'fame 4 fame' and 'FFF' so people dont spam for
a fame.

I do. It's very detrimental to the game, and not indicative of ACTUAL fame.

I think this would be a very good idea, because it always is a problem when I need to click on them, press the circle with their level, press char page, press fame, press cross, press done and then say "Thanks".

Fame even it is ticking off many people is actually serving it original purpose. It's original purpose was to bring in new players by using things such as Facebook and twitter. People are actually doing this by posting their character pages, and because of this new people are coming into epic duel each day.

As long as it is serving this purpose no matter how much it is annoying you the staff won't remove it.

I would suggest the premium referral method over fame. Fame can be abused by anyone at no cost, getting a person to pay for varium just so you can be rewarded is more complicated.

Do you know how many people get hacked because they are trying to get someone to pay for varium for them? With Fame you don't have the risk of losing your account. With Varium begging you run the risk of getting hacked which IMO is far worse.

i think he meant that when people refer others (using their own char page link) to join the game, and get varium, you get rewarded.

I could see that being abused big time. What is to stop someone who can use multiple ISP's from abusing this? I remember seeing something similar done on other websites for extra EXP points for their accounts. It was overly abused so much that those same website had to remove those features because of it. I fear that if this were to happen it would give more incentive to abuse the system for free varium.

drekon's idea is great, and the fame system in ED doesn't even make sense, seriously who begs people for fame? you have to be famous by doing helpful stuff to the community, therefore becoming well know, and not go into crowded places just saying F4F, then get upset if the other person lied. fame is another broken feature i dislike about ED, so they should do something to modify it like the real definition of fame.

The Fame daily LB would need to go for this to work. This would also hurt fame groups who use Twitter and FB to fame others outside of the game to keep peace in game

People who are desperate for fame could get around this if all the combinations aren't put into the fame ignore idea

Could work if you can get all the ways to ask for fame blocked.

While I don't mind fame myself I remember mentioning this sometime ago but I will add a tweek to it.

Remove the fame button and Daily LB for fame for starters. Next turn fame into something you earn in battle. Make it no different then your battle record. Fame would be earned by winning battles it could work like this.

1 vs 1 win = 1 fame
2 vs 2 win = 2 fame
Jug win = 3 fame for jug 2 for players if they beat the jug

With this idea fame would be earned in battle's and the beauty of this idea is that fame asking/begging would stop because the only way you would get fame is by winning battles. You would become famous through winning many battles. With this everyone would get fame the right way IMO by earning it, and everyone who hated fame because people kept bugging them for it would get their peace a win win.

Or option B remove the daily fame LB, and the Cheevo's earned from fame. Without the cheevos or the daily LB no one would have a real reason for asking fame because most are either after the daily LB or just want the cheevos.

I Really Do Believe This Would Be Best For The Game's Progression In Omega.

If They Were Willing And Able To Do It With War Kills, Which Was A Premium Feature That Cost "Real Life" Money...

They Should Consider Doing It With Fame. It Served It's Purpose Intially, Creating Some Social Network Buzz... But It Is And Always Has Been A Burden And Blight On The Game.

No Offense To The People On The Fame Leaderboards, But They Are By No Means The Most Famous Players In The Game, As Many Have Simply Spent Hours A Day Literally Begging For Fame Votes.

It Is Very Similar To Encouraging In Game Harassment And Has Ruined Many Famous Community Gathering Spots, Like Oz World 7.

At The Very Least, It's Annoying And An Unnecessary Feature That Accomplishes And Proves Nothing.

The LB Should Be Removed And The Achievements Should Go Rare, Same As War Kills... Which Is A Completely Different Story.

Mother1 do you understand payment referrals? Obviously not since you stated that they are abusive. First of all there is a cap to how much a player can receive from another invited new player who buys an amount varium. For example a maximum award of 1000 varium or 20 varium referrals per year. There is also a certain goal to meet to get that award, such as the invited person having to spend $10 or $50 on their account for the inviter to receive the award. There is also a reasonable rate at which the inviter is paid, such as no-break-even, the inviter is paid in varium equal to or less than what the invited has paid. And by the way ISPs are internet service providers (the company that sells you internet usage), not internet protocol (IP) addresses. IPAs are non-abusable in payment referrals because the process is completed with purchases, not by new identities. Why bother paying for each referral to get equal or less varium than buying it yourself on your own account... it does not provoke any common sense whatsoever?

 Just remove Fame, its spamming all chats.
I dont care what comes in its place, but just remove the whole useless thing.

I like dreckons idea, I will add to it to make it more see-able.


Add a fame request button similar to challenge button,

When the player clicks it the player they clicked it on gets an option to fame the person who requested with a yes or no button.


If you want to you can block all fame requests.


There is also another button that fames the character next to the fame request button.

This button automatically fames the person you click it on.



Then to top it off, Block all type of fame requests from chat. And add a report feature for those who ask for fame outside of the fame request button.

This means people who get annoyed from fame request need to simply block all requests and to make sure people dont continue to beg their is chat block and report.

Multiple reports lead only to blocked from receiving fames for a day. And in noway does it ban your character nor considered punishable further then band from receiving fame for a day.
